The Sennheiser HD650s are the best headphones that I have listened to in my lifetime. They are easily worth the price, which has gone down a LOT since they came out (now $340). Everybody asked me why I would spend that on headphones, and the short answer is because music and audio is very important to me. The long answer is because I fucking deserve it. These are said to be better than some multi-thousand dollar headphones. Sennheiser never disapoints. Fuck Skullcandy. Fuck Bose. Fuck Sony. These are the shit.

Hey those are cool and all, but I don't get it. What makes the 600$ ones better than the free ones you usually get with an mp3 player? (I'm really not trying to flame or anything)

Interesting stuff.

I would never spend that much on headphones, but I can understand why people would, I wish I could afford to do that.

Headphones are too bulky. Earphones fall out but they have the nice "one-ear-open" bit.

I could go on a technological rant, but the short answer is the iPod headphones SUCK. You really have to listen to them. Anybody with any audio/technological knowledge will tell you that you need good headphones (and/or sound card) to get good sound quality. I don't know how everybody can actually use those iPod earbuds. Those things have fucking horrific sound quality.

They aren't meant to be small and convenient. This is why nobody listens to headphones while running at the gym, on the go, etc... Earbuds are better in this case, but the sound quality of headphones is like a million percent better than earbuds. You could swear you are sitting next to them on stage.

Well I can't say I used headphones much apart from some cheap "gamer" ones I got with some pack for my old GBC. What about when you're talking to someone and you want to listen to music too? I couldn't see pulling one of the earpieces up doing much of a difference.

I don't care how good they are. That's a ridiculous amount of money for a pair of headphones. I'd rather spend that money on the music itself. The quality is already good with the free headphones you get with all mp3 players.

Well that isnt fair my headphones take it up the ass anyway. The right earphone doesn't even work half the time.

My opinions are so useless, I don't even listen to them.

So all this time my headphones were being buttfucked by yours. That must be why they ran off. I demand you return them at once.

Also, cool headgear.

I think the £58 I spent on my HD555s is the most I would ever spend on headphones.

I have HD205s. But the question is, are you really using it's potential? If you're using them with a computer, high end headphones are no excuse to skimp out on a sound card.

I used to hate earbuds, but now I can't stand standard headphones like the ones in your link. Doesn't it feel heavy on your head after awhile? Sound quality wise I've been through four earbuds this year ranging from $5.00 ones to $50 ones, and I didn't notice and difference besides comfort. I need new earbuds now but I have no money.

I got myself the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 headphones last year and I love them. Comfortable and pretty good at canceling noise.

Spending anything over $20 on a pair of headphones/earbuds is a complete waste of money, in my opinion.

I recommend Sony MDR-V300 (under $80 CAD) just because the pair I own have lasted with perfect sound quality for over half a decade, despite horrendous abuse. I mean, I'll post a picture in a moment... you'll see that they're in fucking rough shape... but the sound is as crisp and clear as a bell. When they finally conk out I'm just going to nab a new set.

Earbuds are okay but I really don't like using them much. If you can't notice a difference in quality, either the songs you have are low quality or you need a new sound card or something. I have a pair of $5 earbuds that sound now where near as good as the standard iPod headphones. The best earbuds I've used were the Bose ones. They have headphone quality.

Unless you're an audiophile or have a career or hobby involving music, they really aren't necessary. An average person may not need them, but a DJ or producer would. Some people just notice the hindrances in quality more than others and want to experience that high quality sound that the producer would hear when they master the track.

Its also much harder to break them by sleeping on them. You know you're doing something wrong when you feel them

But isn't it worth it? They're so sexy and slick with the audio quality top notch.
I only use my earbuds when I'm in public but ALWAYS my headphones when at home, their so comfy, but unfortunately I'm not the richest of people and only got some mediocre JVC, still good, but my Sony ones were just so much better.

I hope you know that expensive Headphones can only go so far in enhancing your audio experience. If you get your music in lossy mp3 files encoded in 128 kbps then it doesn't matter how good your equipment is. Opposed to either CD's or lossless Wav or Flac files.

You really can't understand the difference until you become an audiophile. I'm not quite an audiophile (you have to be rich to be an audiophile, and incredibly OCD) but I'm on my way there. Trust me it's a world of difference. When you listen to the same songs on really good headphones and i mean really listen to it, it's completely different. You hear stuff you previously didn't know existed. With crappy headphones you're only hearing the surface of the music, with closed-ear high quality headphones it feels like you're immersed inside the music... it's an experience, I can't even explain it. I just don't understand how people can not care about the difference, it's so black and white to me. I will never use earbuds again.
