Honestly, you have to download a program just to get your music on the thing, make playlists, it only works on one computer (apparently anyway) and then sync it over.
I'd rather just grab a cheap 4GB stick-based MP3 player or a Sansa and drag-and-drop. They do their job, they're small, and they don't require you to waste time messing about with playlists and downloading programs just so you can put music on it.

I don't use iTunes, I use foobar, you don't need playlists, and I've synced mine on more than one computer and it's fine.

Because I'm pretty sure that your $30-$60 MP3 player can't hold over like, 3,000 songs, play videos, movies, and games, and have a pretty good battery life. Also don't forget the iPod has really good sound and it also has a world clock, notes, you can make playlists, you can put photos on it, there's a calendar, an alarm clock, and so much more. This is just the iPod Nano. The iPod Touch is a different story....
That's what she said.
I used to have a 1GB black Nano iPod, now saving up for the 8GB new Gen edition, simply because they play wonderful sound quality and the transfer process than window folders trying to 'Copy & Paste'.
Get and iPod and you'll know how easy it is!
Different MP3 players (that includes iPods) have different functions and feels to them.
I guess it all comes down to personnal preference in the end.
Oh, don't be so shy.
Same around here. I own a Ipod and get praise for it but my friend has a Mp4 player and people "wtf" him.
