So, i was reading my buddy Gravey1's newpost...
"Ok, I had to post this here in my news post. But I didn't want to make an entirely new one, because I do that to much as it is.
But today I saw a comment left on my friend gOrc's song Into The Cold. The link is above, if you are interested. But anyways, during the review someone left a guy said this...AND I QUOTE!!!
"this is amazing man i mean even guitar hero couldn't produce this"
Has it really come to this? Like seriously, are all songs, especially guitar based, being deemed as "Guitar Hero worthy?" Is that the new criteria for what makes something good or not? Whether it is like some shit you played on Guitar Hero?
Because if so, I'm done. I'm done forever with music in every fashion. Not just as a composer, but as a player/performer, and as a listener. Because the simple notion that a video game based off of a bunch of half-decent rock and metal hits is the new industry standard bothers me.
What really gets me is the fact that now people are running around pretending they know everything about rock and metal. Dragonforce is now a household name for scene fags and little thirteen year olds. I won't take anything away from Dragonforce, they are talented. And I like a few of their songs. But why is it people laughed at me 4 years ago when I said I liked this band, and now they are the "new industry standard" for metal.
Oh and I swear if I hear one more time that Dragonforce is better than Dimmu-Borgir or Mercenary, because they are on Guitar Hero, I'm gonna start raping emo kids left and right. And I don't mean the good kind of rape. I mean the kind of rape where even Michael Jackson is asking himself ,"Wtf is going on here?!" *Did I just accidentally, and indirectly suggest that there is a GOOD form of rape in this paragraph?!* Lawl!
And since when has it been "fashionable" to where band t-shirts. I'm so sick of seeing kiddies running around in The Ramones t-shirts, and when you ask them about the band they can't even name one song by the band.
I miss the days when metal and rock were not fashionable. I miss the days when we judged music based on how we actually felt about it, not whether it was in the latest Guitar Hero game or not. To be honest, I miss being able to take people seriously when discussing music with them, especially rock and metal."
He's completly right of course. Musical standard today has changed much from the past. It's all about the games that people play, and the influences of their peers and whatnot. As i've seen before, "Rockband doesnt make you a rocker, asshole." But, that's what is happening now. I myself think i have a great taste in music, and i havent picked up the rock band TOYS in over a year. I am, quite frankly, sick of people saying that just bevause they play Guitar Hero or Rock Band or whatever, they like rock or metal.
Well, to that, i say, i'll shove something where it shouldnt be. To anyone.
