Their was an NG toolbar made a while ago, you could poach some of the ideas from that. But why not make one with the few suggestions you have now, get it working and then add to it. No point trying to add loads of features all at once. One feature at a time and use proper version control. That way if you make a buggy feature we simply go back to the previous version!

Add in something where the user can check new inbox messages.

AKA:
Inbox(34)

...and then then if clicked, it opens the PM page. This would probably require either access to cookies, or the user logging in with the sidebar... ;)

Good luck with your project.

No disrespect to bob but I'm pretty damn sure he's not the one to talk to about that.

If I was going to use this app, I'd want:

1. XP compatibility because a lot of us still use XP and can run it in the background from our taskbar or system tray.
2. The ability to customize the app to check whichever forum(s) they want
3. The ability to check for the latest flash submissions, even if it's just submitted for voting

hmmm i'd actually have to make a proper program for that

2. The ability to customize the app to check whichever forum(s) they want

it checks all of them in a flyout window

3. The ability to check for the latest flash submissions, even if it's just submitted for voting

i can add that too in beta 2

I actually recommend that you work on your site. #1 it's ugly, #2 it runs off the page, #3 there's much more but I don't feel like typing it all up.

The windowing systems I've used (GNOME and XFCE), they have a pretty expendable panel system, which is sorta like the start bar on windows.

BTW, it can be in the system tray, so it works on Windows 95 up AND Linux...

What are we going to use? I'm guessing...
* Linux version: GTK+, statically builtin
* Windows version: Win32 APIs
I know about GTK+ (I'm adanced at that).

Too wide for my screen resolution, which is 1024x768. I think the design puts me off more than anything though.

We shouldn't have to adjust our browser to view your website. 1024 is a commonly used width, and you should take that into consideration when designing websites.

But that implies we want him to design websites in the first place...
