The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. You should read them in order, or you'll be really lost. It's old but if you haven't read it yet, you should go get it.
I've read alot of books, and that's always the one I remember.

Hatchet - I can't really remember why I liked this book so much I read it a long time ago. But from what I remember, I enjoyed it alot.
1982 - A classic by George Orwell. Interesting view on a Dystopia filled with War and famine, where Europe is ruled over with an iron fist and the EurAsian soldiers march through the streets killing infadels.
Brave new world - Almost a non-official sequel to George Orwell's classic 1982. In stead of a Dystoipia, Brave New World takes place in hugely flawed Utopia, where embryo's are harvested in factorys and humans are classed from Delta to Alpha class.
The Pigman - a different take on Child abuse/freedom. I liked it because of how originally the author uses third person. John and Lorraine (main characters) take turns each chapter writing a memorial epic on a typewriter recalling how they "killed" Angelo Pignati, a 50-year old lonely man.
The thief lord - Very good book. I would explain the storyline but nanmes are very important and I can't remember them (they're all italian). You'll have to trust me when I say: good book.

I never read this guy, but the best young adult fiction is for everyone. For instance, Sharon Creech or Gail Carson Levine. Shit, I used to read books, I hate myself.
Anyways, I could recommend Jon Krakauer if you've never. I find his writing very engrossing and thrilling at times. What it is, is good entertainment. Not fluffy, nor is it heavy.

Lol. You're so cute.
I own it and have read it.
Anyways, I ended up checking out "Lies My Teacher Told Me" and another book I came across on my own called "Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs."
I was also going to get this book called "The God Delusion" but it was checked out. I also thought about checking out "Winterwood," but I already got these two books, and I'm currently reading a story called "Speak," so I figured I wouldn't go overboard.
THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS HOMIES
I've been refurbished and reissued, prepackaged and precooked, decontaminated and deloused, but I still smell, sound, look and feel like shit.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman--
Shadow comes out of jail and finds out his wife is dead while giving a blowjob to his neighbor. (There was a car accident... she chocked to death.)
With no where to go, a mysterious man named Wednesday persuades him to work for him. Shadow must help Wednesday to convince certain peoples through out the United States to "join him."
We are then revealed that Wednesday is actually the Norse god Odin, and the peoples through out the US are also Gods like Easter, Baast, Chernobog, and etc.
There is a war waging between the old Gods and the new Gods of America.
At the same time, Shadow's wife is a zombie who helps him every other while.
My description is lousy, but this book is sooo fucking epic.

The only thing I can think of that you may not have read is Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy. Definitely worth a look if you enjoy a slightly old-style gothic fantasy read.
I don't have any other decent suggestions right now because, despite the fact that I'm doing an English Literature degree, we're only currently studying classics, most of which I'm sure you've read or at least looked into.

Only if you haven't read any of Dan Brown's other books... he reuses the same basic story over and over, and it's not even subtly done.
Though personally, I do believe Angels & Demons is his best one...

Ironically, that movie's loved by a lot of people who hate the book (as it was essentially a parody of it) or who've never read the book or even heard about it.

The "Sword of Truth" series, the first one being "Wizard's First Rule". If you like fantasy, you'll like this book. It's a ........either 12 or 13 book long series, and all the books themselves are pretty big.
Much better than that crappy show they're "basing it upon"

Well, the one I've jsut finished reading is called "Ghengis : Wolf of the Plains", by Conn Iggulden. It's a story of the childhood of Ghengis Khan and how the early parts of his life (abandonment by his nomadic tribe at the age of 12) caused him to unite his people under the banner of the Mongols and wage war on China.
It's part of a series and I think that the descriptive talents of Iggulden, coupled with some of this book actually being based on hard historic fact makes it an incredible read.

Just Listen - Sarah Dessen
It might look a bit girly on the cover, and it starts out kinda bleh, but the main dude in the book reminds me of either a Newgrounds user or a 4chan fag. He's always listening to music, and it's really weird stuff, and the book overall is deep and it has some deep meanings. It's melancholic, then hysterical, and then you're raging over what happens. I'd reccommend it.
