Well, if you like playing GBA games and really have no need for pointless extra features, then snag a DS Lite, hell, get a normal DS, it's cheaper and comes with a slightly less brighter screen.

If you dislike playing GBA games and a sucker for technology like web browsers on a handheld and 2 cameras, the waste your money with a DSi.

Ds lite, if you buy the Dsi you are encouraging Nintendo to keep making the same damn handheld.

I would go with the lite.

The DSi has some neat features (web browser, camera, wider screens) but it has no GBA slot. This is a major screw-up in my opinion; I still play a quite a few of my GBA games regularly.

But hey, the decision's yours. Do some research and decide the right one for you.

If you have a back catalogue of GBA games at your disposal, I'd stick with the DS Lite.

Or better yet, rather than trading it in (for which you'd get a pitiful amount anyway) use the DS "Heavy", as a sister of a friend of mine calls it, for the GBA games, and DS games with Rumble Pak/GBA game/Guitar Hero peripheral connectivity.

Otherwise, the DSi is good if you want the other features, the most interesting aspect of which will be the SD card and the DSiShop. The cameras I really couldn't care less about.

according to that the lite has like, 5 hours more on a single charge compared to the dsi

and the only catch is it takes only 30 minutes more to completely recharge

If your going to play it allot get the lite defanitely, and for the gba slot if you have allot of ds games.

fuck the camera

Don't make my DS feel sad.

Anyway, if you play GBA games like I do, then get Lite.
If you want to take adventage of the DSi Shop, then get DSi. Also if you need a camera and a handheld web browser of sort.

Lite would be cheaper to get at the moment though, as DSi is still so new.

"Sniff sniff" says my dear DS. I like the original over Lite and DSi designs any day.

my phone has an 8megapixel camera built in... then again its more about the lens than the megapixels as my professional D-SLR is only 10mp

I can't believe nintendo made a third one, they did this crap with the gameboys. Everybody got the advance, then they made the SP. They should have kept the GBA slot instead of making it as slim as they possibly can, which nobody really cares about. There's really no point for the internet and camera if you have even a less than recent cell phone. I'd say get the lite. Or if you're not picky, get the original. The screen compared to the lite could be better, but it's essentially the same thing. I actually like how it's corners are rounded, as opposed to the lite where it hurts my hands if I play it for more than 20 minutes.

It also has photo-editing features, which would come in handy for some people. The only downside with the DSi is the fact that it doesn't have any GBA ports, whereas the original DS and the DS Lite do.

I guess it all just depends. Would you rather want to take pictures with a DS, or play some of your favorite Game Boy Advance games on a lighter, brighter handheld?

I would just wait until the price is reduced becuase I don't want to pay for something that I know would depreciate a lot in a year.

DS Lite, but the DS gets boring really quickly, trust me.

Also, the DSi is pure crap, don't think it's any better by having a fucking camera on it. It's a total waste of money.

DSi Means NO PAL PARK (or GBA Cartridge insertion for rare Pokemon)
Pal Park is NEEDED in Pokemon 4th Gen

DSi Means NO GUITAR HERO
Then again, Guitar Hero DS Sucks... (cuz its not a real guitar. wheres the fun in that?)

Oh yeah,
Camera is 0.3 megapixel
Looks good on DSi (720p type res) but on the comp its CRAP

The sound files have to be a SPECIAL soundfont which is tough to get

The 'New Mode' which allows access to the SD slot hasn't been cracked yet,
So... you'll be using that old AceCard or R4 more than you'd expect

DS > DSL > DSi

Here is how.

The original DS is cheap and only has a less bright screen, has a GBA slot, slightly bigger than the other 2, and gets the job done.

DS lite is more expensive with an unnecessary brighter screen and a GBA slot and runs games as well as the original does.

DSi has no GBA slot, same brightness of the screen as the DS lite was, a semi-useless SD slot, useless applications like the camera and the Mp3 player, and overall is more pricey than the others.

So honestly if you NEED a camera and mp3 player and don't play GBA games, then get the DSi.

If you want a reasonably low cost machine that has pretty much no issues whatsoever except with a dimmer screen, get the DS.

If you want a DS with a brighter screen, and slimmer build, get the DS light.
