So earlier today I was out with some friends and I noticed off to the side laying on the ground was this huge coin, so I walk over and it turns out to be a 1922 silver dollar. I had never personally seen one so I was surprised at how big and heavy this beast of a coin was.

When I got home I looked it up right quick and it seems to be a normal relief coin so its worth is between $17 and $175 if I read correctly. Nice chunk of change for something found on the ground, but I already decided to mail it too my father because he has a small collection of coins.

So has anyone else found something of value or interest just laying around on the ground, someones garage or anywhere?

Haha, no. But I did bring home the game Mousetrap from the dump. It was missing some pieces, but I still had fun with it.

Cemeteries are good places to find candy, also.

Yeah, and it was a coin as well. It was a "100 Cruzeiros" coin, from our precious currency system. I still keep it until today. It's not as neat as yours, but I still find it a pretty rare thing.

Only coin I've found was an 1899 Penny (pictured below, not mine) ... which isn't really worth that much :P

I know I had to have found something interesting at some point.

Oh yeah, when I was much younger and much stupider once I found a used syringe on the ground. I thought it was pretty cool so I picked it up and brought it home. Wasn't long before I accidentally poked myself with it.

Than I got to be tested for Hepatitis or AIDs... and the tests came back negative. But it was a terrifying experience.

I occasionally find a £5 note on the floor... but nothing else of any real value.

One of my friends seems to attract money or something... everywhere he goes he'll find money on the ground or whatever. He went into the betting shop a few weeks ago, and ended up losing £4 (not much, but he limits himself to £4 per day to stop himself wasting all his money, lol), after which he goes to buy some KFC and finds a £5 note in the toilet.

Bastard.

I once found a half-penny from 1920 on the ground. Pretty valueless considering it was rusted something awful. Still, it was kind of neat finding something that old. I think I may still have it.

Yep, it's a sig allright.

When we were cleaning out our basement we found some stuff of my Opa's. He was a coin collector, and he had a collection of coins from the 1930's before he fled Germany. So, we found some Reichsmarks from various years. They aren't worth much, but they're interesting to have anyways.

Dad's also carried on the coin collecting (sort of), so we have complete collections of Canadian coins from the years the my brother, sister and I were born. It's kind of neat unearthing things from the store room.

After my godfather died i started to lose faith. Soon after, i found this on the ground at my doorstep. The engravings are in portuguese, from outer to inner, clockwise from left:
O VERBO \ SE FEZ \ CARNE (The Verb became Flesh) V. R. S. (i've not been able to determine the meaning of these initials)
MENINO JESUS DE PRAGA ABENÇOAI-VOS (Boy Jesus of Prague bless you)

Neat things laying around.

Also, the other side:
Top: EU SOU REI ("I am king"); left - right: VIVA JESUS ("long live Jesus"); bottom A.R.T. AVÉ MARIA ("Hail Mary", i don't know what the A. R. T. stands for); inner circle: CRUZADA DO MENINO JESUS DE PRAGA ("Crusade of the boy Jesus of Prague"); centre: IHS, Jesuit Christogram.

Neat things laying around.

I have a whole jar of them.

Unfortunately, I think they're only worth their weight in scrap metal.

Last week I was walking my dog and found a twenty dollar bill. It was a total shock. I thought it might be a dollar or a five but nope! I hit the semi-jack pot.

Then I spent it this week to go to Long Island to visit a friend. But it was worth it.
