I can see 2 flaws with this:

1. In the event of a rape, the girl isn't usually afforded the freedom of movement necessary to do things as physically obvious as inserting something like that. Even a dumb rapist would be suspicious if the girl started frantically trying to stuff unidentified objects into her vagina.

2. Given point 1, the other option is to have it in you all the time, as a kind of 'just in case' thing.

This thread's been done before. Honestly, the only women who use it, are the ones who feel like they're gonna get raped, so in other words, smart invention, but probably not enough demand for it.

Not necessarily. If she had to walk through a rough neighbourhood at night, or something like that, then she'd probably know to wear it as a precaution. I very much doubt someone is going to attempt to rape a woman in broad daylight.

If I'm not mistaken, these were originally made for women who live in areas where rape is at an unbelievable high such as the Congo. There, a woman isn't likely to have access to a taser or have the ability to get a concealed weapons permit.Unfortunately, there are so many variables (such as an enraged rapist killing her or the potential for abuse as was pointed out) that these devices are not easily accessable, if at all.
