Horus was the son of Osiris
Jesus was created through a virgin birth
Horus was created through a virgin birth
Jesus' mother was named Mary
Horus' mother was named Mary
Jesus' foster father Joseph was born of royal descent
Horus' foster father Seb (archaic form of Joseph) was born of royal descent
Jesus' birth was said to be on December 25th (even though he was actually born in April)
Horus' birth was actually on December 22nd-25th
Jesus' birth was announced by angels and witnessed by shepherds.
Horus' birth was announced by angels and witnessed by shepherds.
At infancy Herod threatened to have Jesus murdered
At infancy Herut threatened to have Horus murdered.
There is no data of either person between the ages of 12 and 30
Their baptizers were both beheaded.
They were both tempted by Satan while in a desert
They both resist temptation
They both had 12 apostles
They both walked on water, cast out demons, healed the sick, restored sight to the blind
Horus raised Osiris from the grave; Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave
They were both crucified.
They were both accompanied by two thieves.
They were both buried in tombs
They both descended to hell until being resurrected
That's a nice find you got there. But I don't know what to say about it. I stay out of discussions involving religion because somehow it always ends up in a giant fight...
Yeah it seems that the whole Jesus character was repeated many times during history. A lot of older civilizations had some sort of Jesus with the same attributes.
My signature was old so I changed it.

Yeah lol, it's best not to start questioning religions as it only ends up to both sides arguing with eachother. I myself am athiest but I find it best to just keep my views to myself.
Yeah... that's my sig :)

I like religious flame wars so I'll just pretend I have an opinion opposite to yours and be a total douche.

You do realize that most mainstream mono-thesistic religions are all the same right?

He was not born in April, not even in December./..Mormons say he was born in April. However, he was born in August...
There is data about Jesus. However it's not accepted by the catholic church...that's something diferent...
You forgot: They were both humans...
Dun dun dun!
I hope you haven't been watching any zeitgeist shit.

I couldn't remember the actual month. I knew it was sometime in spring or summer.
You forgot: They were both humans...
yeah, the actual men were humans. I am talking about the characters.

That's obvious. Think of the three big ones as a trilogy - the first, Judaism, was pretty cool, and then the less inspired Christianity came along, and then 600 years later the shitty third entry was made. They all follow the same god.
Jesus, however, is only a major element of Christianity (although he makes a cameo appearance in Islam). So your statement has little to do with the topic. Not to mention the ancient Egyptian religion was not a mainstream monotheistic religion.

I see your Horus, and I raise you one Mithras.
Dunno how much of that is actually true (can't find their sources this time), but it looks like the whole 'Jesus' thing has lost whatever originality it had through centuries of being confused with and incorporated into pre-existing stories from around the same time, or earlier.

yes
Zeitgeist is a waste of time. I watched that Zeitgeist movie, it was like 4 hours before anything was even said. Should have been The Zeitgeist Musical.
Horus and Jesus lived in different time periods. Both are historical figures that we know existed, but the debate exists in whether they did what they're said to and whether they had the powers that they were reputed to.
If you want a closer resemblance to jesus, look at Anatolia during the Roman occupation between 100BC and their withdrawl. There were Hundreds of people with the exact same story. Many even in the same city.
The fact was that the Christ character (the character applied to the hundreds of Christs that roamed roman-ruled Anatolia) was created out of hope and old prophesies: The oppressed Jews looked to their prophecies for a person who drive out the Romans and a number of people took advantage of this and modeled their lives after the prophecies. The connection with Horus is that the prophecies could simply been inspired by Egyptian beliefs.

Yeah, just about every monotheistic religion is the same. Change a few names here and there.
That's why I don't think God cares what religion you are, as long as you believe in your own way.

Zeitgeist is probably one of the best ideas, but probably done in the worst form. Basically, the movie has a lot of great points, but a lot of the facts are false.
They found a lot of true stuff that doesn't have an explanation, that makes you think, but then after they show the true facts they pull out a giant loaf of bullshit out of there ass to cover it.
They should have spent more time getting real facts from the movie.
On another note; A lot of those facts arn't true, and in my opinion, jesus was a real person, but they purposly bullshited some of his life to make him seem more like a god, and that he never intended to have so much bs around his existance, but it's so long ago we can't tell what is what.

With one main "god", what is the difference between that and a "God" and powerful "Angels"? With the son of this main or only deity, being this way, I believe my statement has plenty to do with the topic.

That's what pissed me of the most. I was like 'Oh yeah that makes sense' for some points then it totally flipped it on its head for me sometimes.
I have never heard of nor seen Zeitgeist.

There's no way he can prove it happened...Thus, it means it didn't happen...
There's no way to prove the Big Bang happened either... It's just a theory... but since no one can PROVE that it happened, it didn't happened...
I have to see to believe... Ergo, no pics: Didn't happen....
Dun dun dun!

Don't ever feel the need to either.
Christianity has been known to take ideas from other religions, for example I heard that the image of God was inspired by Zeus. I'm think they used this method as a way of getting people to join their religion.
since religion is nothing more than sci fi... it was due to be imitated...
