I can make shit samples sound half-decent, plus most of what I know about music theory was self taught with little help from others, although the foundations of much of my knowledge came from little notes around the AF, and I built upon that.

What makes me special?
I can't think of anything...
So maybe I'm not.

What makes me special is that when I've started on a song, completed in half trough, I start on a new one. The reuslt: A shit load of WiP's :/
It's not that often I complete a track, but if I do it usually takes me about 2-4 days.
Ooh, dunno if this is special, but I mostly start with a bassline, and the make a melody based on the bassling. Then drums and perc.
My mommy tells me I'm special in a certain way too, never figured out in which way :(

I make the best metal around. Period. No one is better than me, and if so, prove it.
(just playing...I'm not that much of a jerk)
but I make some pretty cool music I guess. Studying to be a mixer/audio engineer, yay.

What makes me so special is my generic song structure.
Where did I learn my secret? From this instructional song.
As a bonus it also contains instructions on how to dj, thats where I learned that from too.

Not particularly special... that and the song doesn't have vibrato on the piano... only painful pitch bending.
Ow? NOT my cup of tea...

As my music instructor says, "A Composer's Best Friend is the Trash Can." And it's true - the number of pieces I start and then scrap is pretty unbelievable: I have ~170 "WiPs" and about 20 completed compositions (not including various short pieces like impromptus and two-part inventions.)

I have multiple little things I like to do a lot to my music.
One thing I do a LOT is pitch shift the hell out of anything and everything. A lot of times I'll just record the radio in my parents' car and pitch shift, distort, and granulize it.

Well that's the good thing for composers - once you have a theme, there are so many things you can do to reuse it and change it in such a way that most people wouldn't be able to guess it's the same motif.

Something different I do...hmm. I'd have to say when making a main melody or lead, I build off those notes using the same instrument. If it sounds good, I'll make a new instrument with the notes I added. Repeat and vuala, I got a song. It helps to keep notes in key with each other and adds a nice variety to it also.

Also, bipolar? Don't think I'd like that very much. I enjoy having the way I feel under my control.

I'm an NG audio moderator. Now how much people can say that? huh!? HUH!? HUUUH!? >:C
Also, I spill beer on my guitar and smash it on the keyboard in order to make lovely metal music. You should see the beers running, oh what fun we've had in the bakery.

Hahahaha, sorry about that! I found it a bit special, I mean I know it's not ORIGINAL but most music on Newgrounds (though not all) tends not to prepare the instruments or use extended techniques.
Though there might be a reason for that.

Very, VERY good topic. Been interesting to read. Must admit. Well when I do my music I must say that I don't do musch that other people doesn't do. Well, it's hard to say like this.
If there is something I do, it is to live on the feeling. I cannot create songs sometimes, but just by incident it happens. Almost every good song I've done is done in a row, without breaks. Sitting in front of FL-Studio for hours. My projects may not be the biggest though, Haven't done anything bigger than a 6-7 hour project. Please do check my songs and tell me if anything is special, would be epic :)
I create: Some Kind of DnB
Catchy Upbeat
Classical

*raises hand*
Also, to instill a little deja vu: I'm special, because I fucking tell you I am.
No, I try to make music that I would listen to, if I wasn't me. So far I fail. But I'm still trying.

Well I like odd rhythms and combine jazz structure with rock and neoclassical-ish pentatonic soloing.
Actually nevermind, I'm Steve Vai and Yngwie M.

I guess nothing makes me special, that's why I'll never be signed (apart from the fact I'm nowhere near good enough and my music is just for fun).
But I guess if I had to pick something it would be that if I EQ the shit out of every synth sound I make.
Or that I use automation clips a lot.
Or that my melodies fall on their face 90% of the time.
Idk.
