Aha, I updated my GTA:IV, I can now play it on all medium settings very smoothly.
Apparently they optimized it, they also added some new graphics settings.

Discussion Idea:

How often do you keep your drivers updated? Do you do it when it's just released? Do you have update utilities that inform you of new updates? Do you do beta drivers for testing?

I actually usually don't update my drivers unless something demands for it. I don't play that many demanding games on the P.C.

Question:

What is the most people you have played with in one match and on what game? I'm looking for a huge multiplayer game for PC.

Any Battlefield 2 or Project Reality match is huge, with 64 players.

I'm pretty sure there are a few other games that even have more.

The cool thing about PC's is that the games are way more fleshed out and advanced than their console counter parts, especially hardcore titles.

Yet Console gaming is so simple fun.

I only update when it's really necessary. If there's a top shit new game out, Or if I'm just trailing behind the majority of gamers and the numbers of people I can play with and whatnot has dropped significantly. Otherwise, I'm fine sticking with the current ways. Unless I have money to burn :)

It does. It uses Gamespy like Halo does, so it works quite well. Generally it's not too crowded or popular, which is a good and bad thing - hard to find a game sometimes, but there's a small chatroom which you can talk with random people if you feel up for it.

I haven't gotten around to installing it on this computer though, dunno if I will since I probably won't play it much... TF2 is just too much fun lol.

Also, to everyone who has posted their SteamID in this thread, I've added you... mainly because I'm a friendwhore as opposed to actually caring :P

I actually went onto it online last night. I was fortunate enough to see a whole 1 game going. And I basically decided not to worry about it, And just played death match. I think I'll avoid playing Worms as an online game.

I think what we should do for this thread is post a picture of our gaming rigs just for the sake of it.

I'll probably get around doing so when I get home from school tomorrow.

It's alright when you have a few mates online as well, one of you can just host a game, and the other join. But it's a lot smaller community than stuff like Halo and Source games, that's for sure.

I would... but mine's a notebook, so not that exciting... I could Google a picture of it I suppose, if you REALLY wanted to see it...

The positive in that, Is the fact the games your playing still have a large fan base and still get a lot of games going online. Which means if your not too obsessed over the campaign modes, You can play those three games forever, Without getting bored.

Don't ya love online play?

The campaign made it a decent RTS but the online mods made it amazing. I would waste my time away playing Enfos and Parasite on it. This game WAS my early childhood. Who remembers this game?

I'm glad steam is so liberal about re-downloading games. Should my hard drives of shit out like I think they have, I'll need to DL everything again whenever I might get a new one.

Definitely! Plus we're both in Australia, so that should make timezones a bit easier to handle.

Oh, Thank god. Its about time I saw some Aussies in the Video Gaming Forums. I'm normally fairly alone whenever I'm online, Unless I plan on staying up until 2am. So, Once my monitor is delivered I'll try organize something with a few halo players.

Should I consider buying the Battlefield 2 pack and the Halo: Combat Evolved PC versions?

I use a widescreen monitor, and I don't want to see distortion of any kind.

Nah, they're pretty boring these days. I use to play BF2 PC at my friends house back when it was the shit, and I still found it monotonous or whatever. Halo is really kind of meant for console in my mind. I don't have a single friend who also plays PC games, so yeah. On 360, I can open up up my friends list and odds are I'll get at least a few douchebags to play with me. Halo doesn't lend itself well to the PC in most cases.

So guys?

Whats the best game for my computer in your opinion, If I don't want to waste huge amounts of memory. Like a decent sized game, But not amazingly huge. Online play would be good too. I have $80 to spend, So price isn't a huge deal.

Halo is moderately distorted.

Battlefield 2 is distorted when stretched.

They're old games.

Both of them are great games, especially BF2 now because the PR mod is probably one of the best shooters EVER made.

Halo lost its appeal to me.

Don't just buy a game just because everyone else buys it.

Halo, BF2, and Age of Empires was what kept me a PC gamer until I got the 360.

Anyway, try STALKER. A lot of people like it, but wasn't really my cup of tea. Which is a shit way to recommend something to somebody, but fuck you, I'm doing it anyway.

US$57.090 according to this currency converter gadget on my desktop... which I don't really know how accurate it is.

Regardless, I dunno, it really depends on what games you have already.

If you don't have the Orange Box or Left 4 Dead, I'd probably recommend that, since over Steam they're pretty damn cheap - US$30 and US$40 respectively. Alternatively there's Bioshock, which is only US$20 on Steam.

Incidentally, I think I saw Bioshock going for around $80 - $100 locally, so you'll save a bunch if you get it online.
