Not sure if any of you have actually tried to keep up to date with this...
I've been following it quite closely myself *Cough* Obvious reasons *cough*
This is the verdict, but the case isn't closed yet, Pirate Bay's founders still have a chance to appeal against the charge... And considering the fact that they're trying to send them to jail for a year and pay over £1 million in fines... I doubt both charges will stand up, especially since they have made NO PROFIT from the torrents... And selling T-shirts really isn't a punishable offence...
They should go sue youtube whilethey're at it... The amount of movies that are on there, along with music...
Also, the general rule applies... When one goes down, more come back up, like a freaking hydra...
Remember napster? They shut down the free part of that... People refused to pay for it and they made their own sites... MiniNova, Piratebay, Torrent-Reactor etc. etc.
Anti-piracy methods ONLY affect people who BUY the game...
And the companies just hate losing ANY money... Christ, look at the radio... people used to say how that would ruin the record buisness; yet millions of records & CD's are still sold every year...
Its the same in this case, people still pirate the games but many more people still actually buy the games... There are even the people who pirate the game to try it and then buy the game so they can keep it or play it online...
Piracy is actually helping companies by advertising their games... And by including anti-piracy methods, it encourages piracy...
Just my three cents... (Since its a wall o' text)
