You know what's funny? Newgrounds gets about 500,000 people visiting it's site every single day. Half a million people. You said that Newgrounds was dying? Newgrounds is thriving. NG is at least in the top 5 for flash portals, along with the title of being the first flash portal. Ever. Internet gaming is become huge now, and here we are, part of a community that is the very cornerstone for internet flash.
Even besides the history, 500,000 people is a lot. The whole reason you think that NG is declining is because you are comparing NG now to NG back then. Don't compare the past and the present. There are far too many variable differences. Is it possible that maybe this month, 10,000 Newgrounds viewers had their power shut off, and they were unable to visit the site? Yes. Is it likely? No. But regardless, there are far too many factors to consider.
Instead of comparing NG to old NG, compare it to other flash portal sites on the internet today. Using Alexa, I just took the "Traffic Rank" and compared NG's Traffic Rank (746) to some other flash portal sites that came to my head.

Armor Games 1,192
That is no scientific listing, just bunch of flash sites that came to my head. But look at them. NG is #3.
So answer, is Newgrounds dying? If you are going to compare to the past, then yes, Newgrounds is dying. But if you are going to compare to the now, then Newgrounds is the farthest from dying.
Random Fact: People spend more than 8 min a day on google. How long can it take to search for a topic and click it?
