I wouldn't mind something like this. It's certainly useful on sites like Deviantart and Youtube, and would be handy for those wanting to keep track of their favourite artists without glaring at the portal in vain hope. And like DA you could have it alert about an artist's news posts, including ones not posted to the front page. It's debateable whether it should go in a seperate segment to the Inbox, though.

I see a White box where the ad space was. Is this the space your talking about or the one just under how meny stickers I bought?

Interesting that with only 11 impressions, that one song of mine made me the most money so far. Why is that? Expensive ads?
Woah christ. I'm readin through all this, and this is a really good thing to do. Thanks!

Yeah, best guess is that for that small number of users, you got lucky on results with the ad.

That is because the ads are preformance based. For example... a game might get 10k views, but NOBODY clicks the ad. Then an AP song might get 10 views and one person clicks the ad.. signs up for whatever the product is and BAM, that AP song just made more money than the popular game.
We've been running ads in flash for a few years now, and have been testing these in-page ads since mid Feb. One thing I have noticed is that the people with the highest quality work and the most dedicated fans do the best. Personally I think that's awesome because it's rewarding hard work and dedication, rather than spammers.
stupid question, what are impressions?

whenever someone sees an ad, that is an impression.

Do we get moneys (like fractions of pennies) when people see the ads in our flash submissions (I don't mean the API ones, I mean the pretty pictures that now show at the bottom of the screen when we watch flash submissions)?

I believe you need to have people clicking the ads. Not viewing them :P

Makes sense. The site has bills that need to be paid to continue operation. The staff needs their salaries. I'm surprised you guys are moving toward giving us any money as it is (rather than decreasing hand-outs) with the current global economic situation.
I think it's awesome we're getting just this as it is.

Generous people who know that it will make the person money :)
That's my best guess.

Its great, but do you think its possible to get these feeds on one's account page or inbox? kinda like deviantart and its message centre :3

No, just viewing them. As mentioned a couple posts above.
Guys, this is stellar.
I've been regularly coming to NG for about 5 years now, mostly enjoying the aspects of the forum community, dabbling in audio (and now a teensy bit in Flash, stay tuned)... and I just want you to know that this kind of system... this really, really cool system, is MORE than I would have ever expected in terms of "compensation." Not that I ever felt I needed any, but even so.
This sort of thing truly sets NG apart and resonates perfectly with the claim that NG isn't some sort of "faceless" corporation. My e-hat is off to the NG Staff; you all should truly be proud of what you've accomplished and I hope you believe me when I say I am as excited as you guys are for the massive potential this site has to unleash in the very near future.
I am set to enter the professional world of business in a few years, quite possibly to pursue marketing or PR. The ideals and attitude you guys have displayed are something that will certainly influence me in that regard.

I LOVE YOU, FANS! :3
Also, my self esteem requires that you extend that value out a few decimal points, see picture: hahah. ;)
Unless I'm not "signed up" or something. I figure that just refers to filling in all the required fields in the Payment Address section? Tom said to follow the instructions and that's all I could really see that applied (and I've had those details filled out since March-ish).
My self esteem has gone from low, to dangerously high!

I love this new quick view on the account page :)

Do you get any money for ad impressions, or only when someone actually clicks an ad? And is the revenue section on your userpage automatically updated or does it take a while?
Oh, and this is an awesome and selfless idea. Sorry to sounds lick ass, but Newgrounds really is a website that gives back to it's community, wether it's in competitions, give aways or even simple ad revenue.
We salute you, the people's republic of Newgrounds.

Haha, it pays to have popular flash!
Seriously though, I just want to play with the graphs. =)
I like the idea, but I still don't understand how to get money from our flashes, do we download them and put them into the fla. files or something? Sorry, I just want to get this right.
Also, do we automatically get money from our account once we do the billing address thing, or do we need to confirm somthing or add somthing to it?
Sorry, I know I'm a little slow...

I know eh? I just love the interactive flash for viewing the earnings. Click a button, and it switches. I like this new interface over the old buildings and such, LINES EVERYWHERE!

You do have to update your flash to install the ads, yes. This sytem has been around for quite some time though. The NEW system that Tom et al. are talking about today involves a much more passive paradigm: basically you can now get credit for any ads viewed and/or clicked on that are on pages affiliated with you (your userpage, your audio submissions, etc.)
Also, do we automatically get money from our account once we do the billing address thing, or do we need to confirm somthing or add somthing to it?
Not entirely sure. I think once teh billing stuff is filled out you're plugged in. I'd like a smidgen of clarity on that front as well.

I am pretty sure that's all there is to it.

Yup, once you fill out your address, the system starts running on your pages.
