Actually, thinking about it, England's internet has already been shut down once, by MI5 I believe.

The video is posted on a site that says it's "bringing back common sense" which is code for Radical Conservative and not having common sense.
And if you're REALLY worried about Obama being the one to shut down the internet in case of an emergency, and by emergency, they mean a massive virus outbreak or something that would be globally damaging. If OBAMA is the 21st century president that you're worried about taking away your rights, you're psychotic.

There is no way this bill could pass. So much of the world's internet traffic passes through the US that this kind of "shut down the internet" proposal would piss off a huge amount of other countries. Never mind the damage it would do to businesses whose websites would not be able to be visited by prospective clients. "Cybersecurity" in the form of an internet shutdown would just piss of our foreign friends and screw up our economy.

And I'm sure Obama's smart enough to realize this. But just in case, everybody, start writing letters to him as well as your representatives in Congress telling them not to support this bill.

Maybe all the US sites would be shut down and US citizens wouldn't be allowed access, but the the entire world's internet being shut down because one country thinks another country is threatening them?

I've heard the Pentagon still doesn't have a great security system. It's better than Norton Antivirus w/ Firewall and ZoneAlarm, but its not the impenitrable fortress it should be. Maybe if Obama could just shut down the Governmet's internet that'd be a good idea. "Sir we have a hacker.."
