If its not easier than I don't have to change.
As for the milk in bags, who does that?

Apparently you missed the entire purpose of the thread.
I'm saying that standard is a flawed system which utalizes measurements that have no constant reference point.

It's something used to convert metric into larger things i guess.

You use bags? O__o

You make a fine point. Metric is easy to figure out. All you have to do is divide and multiply by 10. However, I've already memorized standard and I don't want all that to have been for nothing.
attention all buttfucks who think it would be too "difficult" or "confusing"... OTHER COUNTRIES DID IT!!!
for fucks sake. im really getting tired of the fucking standard system and the little shits who (for some reason unknown to me) support it.
cock joke

Schools ARE trying to convert Americans to metric system, but they aren't going to make it fast and drastic, that would have bad consequences.
The reason it's so hard is because everyone is so used to using height as feet and inches and weight as pounds...
I really think the conversion to metric could use a stricter push in schools, because nobody knows how tall they are or how much they weigh in metric.
.
As a Canadafag, it is the most frustrating thing going to the states just because of metric. I need to look at the tiny MPH dial tacked onto my speedometer (which predominantly shows KPH), work out how many liters of gas I need from the cost in gallons, et cetera.
Then again, I like rods and chains :x

Here are valid points:
1. Everyone else uses Metric.
Name 5.
2. Metric is infinetly more simple.
Explain how
3. Metric makes more sense for measurements of volume/weight/length.
Keep explaining..
4. Metric is used for academic purposes anyway.
Got me there.
5. Why the hell are there 5,280 feet in a mile? What's so special about 5,280?
Well the special about 5,280 feet is that there is 5,280 feet in a mile. Lol.
6. After taking higher level science classes, (A+P chemistry, Honors physics) I find it extremely difficult to convert back to standard. I'm so used to metric at this point that I'm starting to measure length in kilometers and volume in liters.
Well, if America changed standard to metric, then most Americans would be confused, because thats what we grew up using, for the most part.
I've always thought that we should change to metric, and I honestly don't see why we use standard.
Anyway, what are you opinons on changing to metric?
Im not being a hater, just wanted to counter back, because I find metric akward for me.

Actually, since I started my drinking career in Europe, I still find it easiest to visualize half liters and liters over ounces and gallons. British pints make sense too, even though they are larger than American pints.

It's a system based upon the power of 10 rather than seemingly random obscure numbers.
3. Metric makes more sense for measurements of volume/weight/length.Keep explaining..
Again, the units are based upon the power of ten, such as milli = 10^-3 and kilo = 10^3

I'm Australian, we measure height in meters but the height of a person in feet and centimeters.
A cup is a quarter of a litre(how simple is that!), all liquids are measured in litres, you can get pints, schooners and middies at the local pub, shots are still in ounces. I don't really think that your system's that bad but there's a reason we converted mostly to metric.
Also from what my parents told me it wasn't hard to convert and made life a lot easier, just took a bit to get used to that you had to half the number when you order at a butcher or you would get twice as much.

You have very good points!
Actually even American physics scientists use the metric system, because it's the only way how to calculate most things. That's why SI units have been invented.
Maybe the American government doesnt like the metric system because it has been invented in France in 1791 during the French revolution. Maybe it's like the thinking of traditional conservatives: "everything related to socialism must be bad"

4 quarts in a gallon because it is like quarter and there are 12 inches in a feet and three foot in a yard and...
You know what would be really neat? These things actually being noticeable.
