I'd made a thread about this a reeeaaalllly long time ago because I was wondering if they REALLY worked. I could hear pretty much all frequencies even though I'm in my twenties.
A lot of it depends on noise exposure. I don't use ear buds and I don't listen to loud music much, and I can still detect 20 kHz easily.
I'm surprised that shitty cell phone speakers have that kind of range though.
On a related note, know what other ring tone adults can't hear? Vibrate.
