I need a good alibi

I accidentally left my mp3 player in teh wash
i only found out it was there AFTER i checked the dryer
the screen is all black =/
Luckily my limited warranty is still in service
so what would be a decent alibi to say to customer service so that they will fix it ?

Tell them it just randomly cut out.
They'll think it's their fault for making a crappy MP3 player and send you a new one, maybe even with a T-shirt.

Just call them up and say it needs fixing, because the screen went randomly black.

If you have to send it in they'll probably be checking for water damage and you'll be screwed.

You might as well say that you tried charging it but the battery wouldn't take a charge, but again I doubt you'll be able to get away with it once they check for water damage.
