Could you give an example of a link that doesn't work for you? Could you tell us what browser you're using (that probably has more to do with it than operating system)?

Have you tried holding the Apple key and clicking the link?

When the menu pops up, click "Download Linked File As..."

If it downloads as a text document or a .xml, then... I don't know.

Do you have the latest version of Safari? I'm using 3.2.1 and all download links from Spamtheweb seem to work. Here's an random link:

http://spamtheweb.com/ul/upload/080209/3 8076_Shades.fla

Try any of the following to download it:

Right click on that link (or control click if you don't have a two button mouse) and select "Download Linked File." If it downloads as "Shades.fla.txt," remove the .txt after it's done downloading, so the file is just "Shades.fla (it might ask you if you want to convert the file, say yes). If the file still works, you're good.

If not, you could also copy that link, open up the downloads window (Window > Downloads) and paste the link to start the download.

If that still doesn't work, either use another browser (Firefox should work), or upgrade to the latest version of Safari if you haven't already, and try to download the file again.

Could be why they call it a beta ;)

I'm using Safari 3.2.1 and the download starts normally. I used to get that problem when using earlier versions of Safari with "uncommon" filetypes--such as when downloading Photoshop brushes/shapes/files from Deviantart (.abr, .csh, etc)--but the problem seems to have gone away with later versions of Safari.

Try some of the fixes I posted above when trying to download the file.

If you have Safari, Ctrl-Click on the link to the file and click on the "Save Linked File As..." button. For some reason it downloads .fla's as .txt files though.
