Alright, I've been in the market for some new, and decent programs. I've been using Fruity Loops, but god, even if you go and download tons of sound fonts online it sounds like crap. (Orchestra and rock wise that is) I've heard a lot of stuff using the EastWest packs, especially the orchestra packs.

My question is, has anyone ever had the opportunity to use the "Ministry Of Rock" pack by EastWest? Because I've watched demos, and heard mp3s from people who have worked in it. But these are all done by the company itself, I'm really wanting a third person/party opinion. Because really, they aren't going to post anything negative about their product on their website.

I've already decided on getting their piano pack, and the orchestra gold pack. Or whatever the exact title of it is. I can't remember it exactly off the top of my head. I've talked to people on here who use them, and I've only heard good things about the products. But other than those, I have not heard anything good or bad on any of their other packs. And the Ministry of Rock is what I'm really interested in getting some feedback on.

Thanks!

Yeah the demos for Ministry of Rock make it look/sound amazing. I wish I had 400 bucks to shell out for it, but I don't at the moment. I know of one NG artist who uses Ministry of Rock, if you'd like to hear some less "corporate" examples. His name is Crueldeity . It sounds great, I can tell you that much lol

Sorry to double post. I also tried contacting Crueldeity with questions about MoR like 2 weeks ago, but he hasn't replied yet... so it's worth a shot, but I can't gaurantee you'll get a hold of him.

Hey there, Eastwest develops some incredible stuff for sure. About one year ago I've used Miroslav Philharmonik and changed to their orchestra, I wouldn't want to go back at all. The only negative thing about their PLAY engine is the pretty high system load. A strong system with a professional soundcard is highly recommended. I haven't checked MOR yet but it looks promising. Here's a review I've found on Youtube.

Hope that helps!

I have Ministry of Rock and I love it. My piece Final Encounter uses a lot of MoR, so have a listen to that to hear someone outside of EW using it in action.

For what it's worth, I've been really happy with all of the products that I've purchased from East West.

depends I think on what exactly you're looking for. I have MoR as well and to be honest i'm not so thrilled with it. I guess this is largely due to the fact i'm still not playing my things in live and the mod wheel plays a MASSIVE role in most of EW's stuff. So if you're thinking of using the mouse like me, not so great.

However if your concern is to get really good electric guitar i'd put my money on Prominy LPC Distortion or it's new cousing Prominy SC Electric guitar

We're looking at gentlement, 60 and 64 gig libraries of pure distortion fury respectively. The former comes with a clean guitar as well for ballads and other such needs, SC is dedicated to distortion.

Priced at 349 or 599 for both clean and distorted LPC
or 399 for SC alone

It's a bit more (about $99 more) then MoR yet I these guitars are far superior to MoR.

MoR comes with few velocity layers, 2 in most cases and 3 in a few (low, high, and then feedback, like when you play a note hard at the end the guitar slides into a screech kind of thing)

Since it also uses the Kontakt 2/3 engine (SC comes with Kontakt, LPC does not), it's much lighter on your PC.

Anyways, I didn't mean to come off as a salesman or anything. If I had known of LPC when I was buying MoR I would have gotten that. The perc section in MoR is pretty sexy i'll give it that, the bass section I have yet to actually use in a song :/.

oh, and here's one of my songs that use it a lot. I suck with equalizing guitars so you can hear what it sounds like pretty much out of the box with little interference.

If the prices of "EastWest" are too big, you can try Yellow Tools Independence Free.
It's a very powerful sampler with some awesome guitars, acoustic and electric, tons of percussions and a lot of other goodies.
ah... and it's free

Well, I have a full sized midi piano. That is what it is primarily made for using with correct? Because I was planning on hooking up my piano to it, and playing through that. And then using the "point and click" method with the mouse when really needed.

So, based on that knowledge, would you be more apt to recommend it? Since I'm not a "point and click" kinda artist.

Is this another DAW? Or just a distortion thing for guitar players? I don't play guitar, so that wouldn't be useful to me. :-/ I'm basically trying to get ideas down for my friend who plays guitar. Then send him the stuff I come up with in MP3 form so he can learn it.

I shall definitely look into this. Thanks! :-)

I'm not so worried about bass guitar at the moment. I actually found a GREAT bass guitar sound font for Fruity Loops. It is the one thing I absolutely love when it comes to my FL Studio setup.

Drums though, is something I'm in need of. So with all things said and done here, I'm thinking that MoR is gonna be worth the money.

Thanks!

Also, I've checked in on Crueldiety's stuff. Pretty great sound in all honesty. I never would have expected his material is made with VSTs.

Thanks!
