This is an incorrect fact, I believe that 25% of americans are Obese, with 55% Fat, but numbers vary depending on your source.

Sup, y'all. No no, I do believe at least 50% of Americans is PHAT (even if they are the biggest terrorist state in the world, according to Noam Chomski, and attested to by the fact that they break international law on a regular basis, for example in Nicaragua in the 70's and 80's, and in Iraq). But aside from all dat, dey is da PHATTEST mfks dey is, y'all. H-Dawg OUT. (of course, I be talkin about the government, not all da fly American homies. Peace!)

That is a cool picture. I think that if everyone had a hug, there would be at least 50% less violence in the world.

Yeah, yeah - except all a them PHAT/FAT AMERICAN people. The law should exclude hugging them, unless they made it so that it was only one of them, and a bunch of us huggin them in a team. Then it would be ok.

Oh please. Not another load of Michael Moore's misleading bullshit.
"American military kills 4 million civilians in Southeast Asia."
Convenient that he doesn't tell you why. We were at war at the time with an enemy with civilians that attacked soldiers and lied about helping the enemy.
"US stages coup in Chile"
Nothing new here. It's about protecting economic interests. Every powerful country will put pressure on a leader or support a rebel in order to get a better deal.
Same thing for El Salvador. Ironic how he mentions four American nuns. Shouldn't that not matter compared to 70,000 people?
"US trains Osama bin Laden and fellow terrorists to fight Soviets"
So? The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
"Contra's" Same economic interests.
"US gives billions of dollars in aid to Saddam to kill Iranians."
It's called shaping security interests. "to kill Iranians" Yeah, I'm sure the French helped the colonists purely for self esteem. So I guess the French must be evil. England, too, for its help in the French and Indian War.
"White House secretly gives Iran weapons." So? Why not profit of the wars of two third world countries. At least we made it a fair fight. Heh.
"CIA agent Manuel Noriega disobeys orders from Washington. U.S. invades Panama. 3,000 civilians die. "
Well, duh! If your agent starts disobeying orders and is the head of a country that could be disruptive, you have to get him out of there.
"Iraq invades Kuwait with weapons from the US." How is this our fault? It isn't. But Moore wants as many misleading facts connecting the US with death, even if they are weak ones.
"US enters Iraq. Bush reinstates the [rightful] dictator of Kuwait."
Why would we do otherwise?
"Clinton bombs weapon factory in Sudan. Factory turns out to be making aspirin."
Too bad. But there's more to it than what a building looks like. The intelligence was just wrong. Guess that makes us evil, too.
"UN estimates 500,000 Iraqi children die from bombing and sanctions." No, most of them died because their leader was an inhuman bastard. I assume its the "oil for food" program, and if 500,000 people starve, it isn't because the US renegged, its because Saddam didn't give out any oil, the bastard.
"US gives taliban-ruled Afghanistan $245 million in aid." Yeah, because they used to be the leader of production of poppies, and they stopped. We rewarded them. This fact is made to sound bad only when looking at it today. Before 9/11, no one would have cared.
So, you see, the US isn't policing the world. It is protecting its interests, both economic and security. The US doesn't go around the world protecting democracy. It's not practical.
Protecting economic interests has been an important factor in lots of wars: All of England wars about empire, The revolutionary war, the war of 1812, the Gulf War. This isn't anything new, and it doesn't single out the US as a bad country. All major powers have had several little wars. China, Russia, France, England are just a few.

*callousness turned ON*
Wow, I'm glad I live in America. For one, it's NOT Chile. OUR government actually gives a shit about it's own people, instead of doing whatever they're told for a big enough bribe. We used to have a country like that, but we ran those bastards off the continent about 225 years ago.

You sir, are ignorant. Policing the world is protecting economic interests. How else would you protect your economic interests without acting as a police force that fights communism and nationalism, no matter what the human cost?
Why do terrorists hate America enough to give up their lives in order to deal the country such mortal blows? Of course it's not America the terrorists hate; it's American foreign policy. It's what the United States has done to the world in the past half century -- all the violence, the bombings, the depleted uranium, the cluster bombs, the assassinations, the promotion of torture, the overthrow of governments, and more. The terrorists -- whatever else they might be -- are also rational human beings; which is to say that in their own minds they have a rational justification for their actions. Most terrorists are people deeply concerned by what they see as social, political or religious injustice and hypocrisy, and the immediate grounds for their terrorism is often retaliation for an action of the United States.
Most Americans find it difficult in the extreme to accept the proposition that terrorist acts against the United States can be viewed as revenge for Washington's policies abroad. They believe that the US is targeted because of it's freedom, it's democracy, it's modernity, it's wealth, or just being part of the West.
But government officials know better. A Department of Defense study in 1997 concluded that: "Historical data show a strong correlation between US involvement in international situations and an increase in terrorist attacks against the United States." Former president Jimmy Carter, some years after he left the White House, was unambiguous in his concordance with such a sentiment: "We sent Marines into Lebanon and you only have to go to Lebanon, to Syria or to Jordan to witness first-hand the intense hatred among many people for the United States because we bombed and shelled and unmercifully killed totally innocent villagers -- women and children and farmers and housewives -- in those villages around Beirut. ... As a result of that ... we became kind of a Satan in the minds of those who are deeply resentful."
The terrorists responsible for the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993 sent a letter to the New York Times which stated, in part: "We declare our responsibility for the explosion on the mentioned building. This action was done in response for the American political, economical, and military support to Israel the state of terrorism and to the rest of the dictator countries in the region."

That's hardly acting as a police force. Policing would be going around the world cracking down on all things un-American. Yes, communism is something that caused military action from the US. But, how many injustices are there in the world where the US does not intervene? Look at Africa, a giant shithole of ignorance, starvation, aids, and war. I belief that the US will not interfere with others unless it has something to gain or to protect. The US is not an international policeman.

It apparently wasn't economic interests that the US intervened, it was because Allende was a Socialist, and the US feared that Communism would spread through South America.
It is unfortunate that this happened, and I am sorry to say that I am somewhat callous to the suffering of foreigners. But, this was not done for some evil purpose. With all the tension in the Cold War, I can see why some would see containing Communism would be worth the evil of financing a bloody revolution.
I suppose I was not taking into account the bloodshed that occured. I'm sorry.

It's been expressed already by other members, but Iraq IS our business because it affects our national security. Freeing the people from Saddam and his sons was basically a bonus... had we gone into Iraq just to free the people (which is still moral in my opinion) THEN we would have been puting our noses in other people's business since their freedom does not affect us.
When our government believes that an outside power represents some form of threat to our security is it not right for them to take the action they feel is needed to protect their people? Wouldn't you want your government looking our for your lives and interests?
You think the U.S. has overstayed their welcome? I think there are some that want us to get the hell out for whatever reason, but it is very difficult for me to imagine that the majority of Iraqis want us to get up and leave without making sure someone humane is left in charge of them.... in this way I guess we are butting into their business since it is not in our interest to rebuild Iraq with nearly $100 billion of taxpayer money; God forbid we should continue to butt in and attempt to help those people rather than leave them alone to find order in a leaderless contry.
