I have an audio file that I'm trying to put into flash, but whenever I try to import it, flash says that there was an error reading it. The audio file is MP3, and I'm using flash CS4 prof.

I would guess that a part of the file is corrupted or something. But then I don't really have any idea...

if you can not play the mp3 file from windows media player, then it is corrupted, but if you can
then try converting the file

I have the same problem...........Fortunately I know what it is....... Some mp3 files cannot be imported because of certain settings in the mp3 file that cant be changed. Such as sound ratio (14bit) etc You can easily fix this if you have a converter. Just convert it to an mp3 again and it should work :)

the easiest way i solved this problem was i imported the mp3 into a sound editing program like audacity (free) and just exported it into a .wav .. works just as well

If you're importing mp3, it needs to be 44.1 KHz and I believe at least 16bit
You should be able to change this in the File>Save As dialogue in Audacity

I agree with Denvish that will work just as well because I've tried it (I have audacity and a converter)
