What do you suppose the correct age a child should be when he first learns the 7 dirty words? Late so they don't use them innapropriately when they're little, or early so they can learn to control their words?

It's not like you can control when they start swearing ... or even realise it since many children will only swear around their friends at first.

People shouldn't cuss.
It's cheap--
only under extreme moments... when you mash your thumb, when someone breaks your favorite thing, or whatever. Otherwise, it shouldn't be part of anyone's everyday lexicon. And if it is-- it's a shame.

Probably as soon as you hit your teens, and probably 21 when cursing infront of your parents.
Because who wants to say 'cunt' infront of their parents?

I'll NEVER be old enough to swear in front of my parents, but the rough age would probably be... 12?
I used to swear SO much that the word's lost meaning when I was in middle school, now I've learned to only swear when it's truly necessary.

^^ same here, 9 sound slike a good age for kids just to know what the words are, they should be at least 16 before they use them in everyday language

well, i learned them when i was 8, of course i lived in TEXAS at the time, but I didn't know what all of them meant until 13 or 14, so i'd say use them when you feel comfortable cursing around your parents.
with my dad I use all of em, but with my mother just when I can't help it ;)

Everyone curse all the time so there's no point in putting a proper age for it when kids imitate everything they see

It depends on what type of family you were raised in. If you were raised in a fucked up environment where the word cuntnuggets was used in every sentance, or in a proper environment where it was frowned upon to curse. It depends on what you were raised on.

My parents dont mind if I cuss in front of them, just as long as I dont do it around my lil bros/sis.

I honestly believe there is no reason one should grow up attempting to hide curses from a child. I grew up hearing curses all around me including from my parents. Just make sure they know it's not appropriate for everyday use.

After all this time I understand and yet I cannot fully wrap my mind around the fact that there's a social construction forbidding the usage of 'certain words.'
I mean, come on for fuck's sake. :)

Makeshift, you do realize that you are not using the right symbol when it comes to ' and `, right?

My first uttered swear word was probably one of my early learnt vocabulary words; it was most likely 'fuck'. I found profanity being flung around at a more harsh rate around grade 6, from all my peers.

They should learn to swear as early as possible, so they can devote more of their time on this Earth offending the easily offended.
