tried that didn't work to well. Also tried a bunch of stuff but nothing looked too good. I need to work on my digital painting skills
This is what I have so far and it's pretty boring. I think maybe I might try painting it traditionally and scanning it in again
Oh dear god... I wouldn't have been able to tell how great the original sketch/drawing was because this digital image is really bad.
Are you working in Photoshop? Do you have a tablet? If you are working in Photoshop without a tablet, try getting your original sketch and tidying it up or redrawing it with cleaner lines. Then scan the cleaner drawing and work with that. Duplicate your lines layer and change Blending Mode to Multiply for the top layer. You may also want to adjust your Levels for that top layer to make the lighter areas lighter, and the darker lines slightly more bold/black. Then, create a new layer under the top lines layer and start colouring on that. For anything 'behind' the chick (such as A-BOT and the general background), use a layer under her colour layer.
If you have no tablet and an unsteady hand, try using a soft brush (that is maybe as wide as her face) with lowered opacity and just begin layering in the colour until her shape is softly applied in place. Build from there. Maybe make the style of your hand drawn linework the loose and carefree style of the overall mini-poster. Think of it as a collage of free flowing, colour-dancing brush strokes (?).
It may sound like I'm talking down to you, but that isn't my intention. I just like your sketch and think you could do so much more with it.
Also, I've heard that audio-chicks dig rainbows.
