Here's what I've got so far. Sure, it's just a basic sketch, but I think I'm doing pretty good so far.

It's gonna be miniposter for the Art Portal.

Tips, critique?

Looks good so far, face needs a little work though, esp the eye, but that could be due to the fact that I'm not such a big fan of anime...

Could I get some critiques before I submit?

I just got a graphics tablet, but I still strangled this piece. I got to get used to drawing in a natural way.

-The expression looks like she's staring into space, I think looking interested at the viewer/sketchbook may perk up the sexiness.
-Her right boob looks bigger than her left boob. > I believe her chest shouldn't be pointed at us for her posture. (?)
-The stool could be shifted to the left to be firmly underneath her.
-There's a lot of space on her left and right; I think you may benefit if you zoomed into her a bit more.

Ok so I had a layer turned off. This explains her expression as well as her hair. Which I can't believe no one commented on. The idea is that the color is being blown off to show the sketch underneath. Also explaining why it looked like I wasn't finished coloring it.

MIndchamber - Your WIP looks great. See this is exactly what I need to learn. Drawing directly onto the canvas. I keep using crutches like masking layers and selections. Your pieces look more organic and dynamic. They flow. Looser and braver.

Kinda weird angle. I get what you're going for, but she looks a little fat. You'll prolly make it better/more detailed anyway.

Im still not as loose are as brave as I want to be, but im working on it, still good to work on layers if you know the parts you're working no longer need to be touched, like the eye for instance, thats done and I wanted to make sure I didnt fuck it up with the skin or armor, eventually though i wanna be able to have only 2 layers, the ruff outline, and the finished art. Like jagondudo and a few others here.
I still like to overlay my shadows though, so Im definitely not out of the woods yet.

once the coloring is done Ill add the final shadows which will make her leaning over more obvious.
as for the fatty statement, everyone knows I like my bitches

thick.

holy shit that chick looks surprised :O
Plus combined with her spiky hair, it looks like someone dropped an electric eels in her asscrack :O

The main trick to normal eyes is that you can never see the entire pupil.. or whatever that shit is called. Look at my crappy examples bellow.

p.s. I hate graphic tablets. They're pretty much worthless for anything but cartoons or spending painstaking amounts of time on digital paintings. Get yourselves some pencils. Pencils are still the king of awesome.

Not having to do with the contest. But, fuck it, this is about 3 hours into my Wacom only first sketch. 1 layer. Just trying to relearn.

I guess I want to be one of those 40 hours at a project digital painters.

That's the time it takes to do that.
Unless you're an inkjet printer.

it only makes sense if you apply those skills to fictional things and ideas. i don't get it either why they waste time on kodak copies and bowls of fruit.
