Fuckin Newgrounds an their text limits.

I just though of a fuckin great idea I'll never use. Cos I don't make zombie games.

Ok lets say you're making a zombie shooter with multiple weapons, or upgrades. You want to assure the player that they're dealing more damage when they buy something new, yeah? Well when you shoot a guy, you have the number of damage you dealt appear as a number, like in most RPGs, except it's written in blood, splattered against the wall as you shoot a guy.

There, that's it. I just thought it'd be a waste for me to know that and not tell anyone about it.

That actually sounds interesting. I'm not sure how it'd end up working in the long run, or how important it is, but yeah, that sounds pretty neat.

cool feature, i would like that. not game-breaking, but better than most people who submit their 'ideas' for other people to do the hard part and make.

how do you figure, all youd do is make your own blood splatter font and plaster it against the wall whenever someone is hit

Yeahhh, I bet there's a way to do it without lagging.
Like you could attach the movie, with an animation for it to like, drip down, and then it will fade away fast, maybe even make it smart enough to fade slower when there's less on screen, and fade faster when there's more so it never pulls the game's FPS down.
Besides, if you leave them all on there, you wouldn't be able to see the latest ones, I guess you could make them darker the older they are like they're getting dry. And the newer blood splatters would be a brighter red.

Well its original ill give it that, but its so unpractical. Imagine you shoot a guy from the same angle two times (iuno some SMG). The blood would overlap the other blood, and by the time you are done playing this game, there'll be so much blood everywhere you wont be able to see any numbers anymore. Plus it just isnt as practical as seeing the numbers vividly, instead you have to concentrate beyond your enemy to see the damage.

but, for a zombie shooter, is the entire level covered in blood a bad thing? As long as your smart about it and don't make all the blood the same color... it should look fine

actually that really is kind of a neat feature. Pawlakt has the right idea about making your own font, embedding numerals only, and displaying the variable through cleverly placed dynamic text fields.

I would do it by drawing onto a bitmap above the world but below the player. Then there is no lag increase no matter how much blood there is.
Also, good idea.
