They're not real conservatives. They're greedy, lying politicians who deserve to be thrown out of office and replaced with regular people (well, educated people, but still with accepted morals and without the corruptions of power). The state constitution forbids any measure which restricts civil rights. Period. Vote or no-vote by people.
