How do you get featured???

I want to know how you get featured as an music artist....is it like how many songs you post in a certain amount of time or how good ur music is cuz im confused as hell...XD and plus does ur level help you get featured????

Well if any of you guys know just tell me cuz i need to know these things sence im an artist myself,,,LOL

I've seen this asked before and I believe the general consensus was that the featured song/artist were based on the number of downloads a song had.

If that's actually the case or not, I dunno, they obviously have an automated system in place for it, as I doubt they have the mods listen to everything that's uploaded just to find something that sounds outstanding every day.

In which case, it's really nothing to strive for, as the popular artists on the site will always trump you until you become one of them.

He likes iron candies and from time to time have sex with G-bot and for a weird reason give birth to tanks after that.

Also musicshake together with jamglue are not music making programs, those are just "duplo music" premade-loops arrangers for retarded kids that still play with blocks, but for some weird reason the think that they are musicians.

Posting stuff (I don't even call it music) made with those will get you banned.

Adding on to what he said, it's stated in the MusicShake Terms of Use:

What's the punchline to all that? Anything you make there is their property. Hence violating the Creative Commons licensing used here hence making it illegal.

no, what i meant was this:

say 100 people look at the featured artist and listen to some of the artist's songs. It turns out that the songs are terrible. So those 100 people are going to vote low, and the overall score of teh song will be really low. What i was trying to say is that, just work on a song and make it perfect, don't wait to be featured.

I think there is a way to get top 5 songs. Its a very lame way and i never tried it yet and no one else should either but I think some do already. I never wanted to say it because this will give people some bad ideas, but your post asked so umm yeah.

To get top 5 (possibly) make sure you post your song not on the day of top 5 pick which is wednesday at 12:00am. Tuesday seems pretty short term too (the ppl who post on tuesday and get on top 5 are usually the ones with a lot of buddies on NG. Anyway if you are not the guy with tons of people favoring you, then I recommend you post on thrusday so you get about a week for the next top 5. When you post it, you will probably get blammed if you five it. That's fine...in a way that is a good thing. It keeps your song hidden from the blammers because blammers don't zero songs that are not near the top of the genre list. Only haters do. Make sure you don't get too many votes for your song because if you have too many, one vote is not going to make your score jump a lot. In order to reach the top 5 you must have enough listens and from what I've heard a certain amount of votes too. I don't know the exact numbers, but listen count is no problem because you can listen to your song, reset the history, listen song. reset history, etc. to rack up the listen count. The votes can easily come from reviewing a bunch of songs and saying at the end "check out my stuff" or something like that. Anyway, on tuesday evening when your song is still kinda low that the blammers don't see your song, you basically five it and ask some buddies to 5 it just before 12:00am on wednesday. Blammers will probably miss your song as they think they zeroed all the high scored songs already in that genre.

This is just a theory, but this is what I thought some people do to get on the top 5. I've noticed some past top 5 guys get in the list when their song was a really low 3.5ish score and for some mysterious reason on tuesday it becomes a 4.4 or 4.5 and gets top 5.

Actually both of my songs that got on Featured Music got wayyy more listens, votes and reviews than the others (relative to time, one of them was in 2005 when 5 reviews was ELITE). You get a lot of non-audio people coming to your music when youre on Featured. This can be both a blessing and a curse.

It's good to read the rules and all the infos about everything, from programs that you use, forums where you write to medicines and pills that you take.

- Daily feature is random. (?)
- MusicShack (and basically and loop program) sucks if you publish what you do. (!)

And to the kid that started the thread, BulbMaster or something - what you're doing now is called "being unreasonable". Admit that you made a mistake. Buy (or download if you're not afraid to go to jail XD ) a normal program, or buy a mic and record yourself playing, it's better then "making" unoriginal music and will be more appreciated. Most of the time, most of NewGrounds' good people would have flamed you by now. I, on the other hand, try to help you (even through I truly do think you are a megalomaniac self-righteous kid with no idea what is music or real life). Admit that you were wrong, and learn music. Get those creative juices flowing.
