Prove it.

This is exactly what I was talking about. There's no 100% flawless definite proof of this either way so quit being arrogant and complaining about people rubbing their beliefs in your face even though that's precisely what you're doing.

he's talking about a christian god and there's 100% proof it doesn't exist.

Check out "South Park". Trey Parker has stated that he believes that of all the ridiculous religious stories, which are all truly ridiculous, the silliest one of all of atheism as it teaches that things are happening just because. You can also enjoy the episodes where they make fun of "Family Guy" more.

Right.

I kinda wish I had seen it.... Apparently, being Christian is 'cool' now. So all of 'them' study 'christian science'. This one time I went with my friend to one of her religious group meetings her mom shoved down the poor thing's throat. Full of bullshit and prayer.... I'm surprised they didn't maul me for being an atheist. They told me that, "I had not found god yet.", and at this I laughed, because just a few months ago, I was a christian... Towards the debate, I mentioned how the bible is false, and then things went into a debate. Man, do they believe bullshit. They take the bible so literally, then use their bullshit christian 'science' to back things up, then they decided to pull a victem complex, after saying that Evolution is propaganda, and how the government is biased about teaching Christian beliefs in school, and how Christians are banned from teaching their bullshit in public school. They completely ignored the fact that there are plenty of Christian schools for them to send their children. In any case, their claims for the bible stories are just plain filled with bullshit. Yes, they believed that Noah's children repopulated the earth, and that everyone was inbred, but they dont question they bible, not ever, or else they go to hell. They also had the nerve to try and convert my music, saying it causes violence, and is evil, with subliminal messages. Fuck them. Fuck the nazi shits, and fuck their Jesus.
If heaven and hell exist, I'd much rather go to hell, where all of the awesome people go, instead of of actually suffer through those preachy motherfuckers in thei heaven.

Brian's crappy pro-atheism arguments wanted me to yell at him through the TV. They weren't even good arguments.

The episode also highlights one of the shows flaws, its biased, and its all Seth's personal opinions. South park is much better and intelligent because it tends to be neutral and makes fun of everything and all sides of debates. (remember the episode where all the catholic priests except one were child molesters and the atheists were crapping out of their mouths?)

Overall, the episode was bad, except the star trek stuff.

Seth MacFarlane isn't always the story writer and neither are many animators with big tv spots. They have a team of people working on the whole thing.

Now that I watched it, I get it later than you guys, I see that it is a take on regular society since forever. If you don't conform with the norms of the community you live in, people will shun you until you seem normal in their eyes. Since religion is a big topic, of course they will choose to use it.

You have to remember that Family Guy is very borderline, so deal with it.

This is a foolish statement... it doesn't account for the wide variety of beliefs that fall beween "omnipotent, personal God" and "no God at all" nor do you have any proof to indicate that religious people are religious only because they haven't considered the alternative.

You seem egar to be close minded...

So when a show makes fun of other religions it is fine. But when Atheism, a belief that something doesn't exist, gets made fun of it is a big controversy. I consider myself Agnostic because Atheists always seem to be smug assholes.

For one, how about you stop grouping together every Christian as the same person. Not every single Christian feels the same way as everyone else. I hate that there are "spokespeople" for Christianity, because most of the time I think they're full of shit.

Secondly, those of you in this thread who are mad at family guy for prodding out atheists and making them out to be evil...you do realize that this was a joke, right? And that's not even the best part...it was a joke aimed at the people who actually do that in real life. I'm a Christian, but I don't condemn an atheist for not believing in a god. Hell, I don't condemn other religions either. I liked the message that episode had - "It's not evil being atheist."

Last, I hate preachy people as much as the next guy. I hate it when an atheist tells me that I'm an idiot for believing that God exists. I hate it when I'm told that there is no scientific proof of a deity. However, I also hate it when there are those preachy Christians who think they know everything and that it's their job to save the world.

forget all the complex theological and scentific arguments, god doesn't exist because you can't see him on a telescope!

Call it creative license or embellishment if you want... but to make a point about complexity and in the same breath grossly oversimplify an atheist's application of empiricism is just... silly. It's silly.

Not to mention the reference to the retarded teenager who gets D's in science class. I mean I figured I'd give you a chance, but you shit all over it anyway.

i also wanted to say that i wasn't an athiest, but i didn't want to sound pretensious like "even if its something i don't agree with" like my agreement meant that much.

So what you really meant is something more like...
"If you're going to do something do it respectfully, even if I believe it's wrong."

Can I call you a hypocrite now?

But being an atheist would imply that I'm under the impression that the universe is a pointless accident that occured strickly by chance and the fact that the laws of physics exist, are stable, and managed to create life is just a whole lotta good luck.

Although I firmly believe the science behind the creation of the universe and understand the genius of science, I don't believe that's it's all just pointless luck.

closed-minded is being closed-minded towards atheism, give some decent definition of the universe and I might have respect, organised religion is dumb tho

I like to think of science as the field of studying Gods art. Like a man in a painting trying to figure out who he is... he can find out he's paint, made up of individual ink drops, made up of molocules and atoms thrown about on a canvas and claim... "there is no proof of creator in this ink"... but, oh how wrong he is.

I don't claim to have any answers. I don't even really care in what you personally believe... if the best way you can live your life is by denying religion and your going your own way then more power to you, but I find it very strange that you would be so *EAGER to insult all people religious and all religions in the world based on the idea that we all worship Jesus or deny the existance of dinosaurs.

In doing so, you become the very person you hate... close minded, angry, and unwilling to hear other points of view or take in all aspects of the story before making your decision.

THATS NOT WHAT I WAS SAYING.

i was saying that the arugements the episode made are poor, and that there are better arguements one can make, ones that actually make someone think instead of cringe.

in the episode, one of the few arguements Brian makes is that you can't seem god on a telescope. nothing scientifical or theological, just that you can't see him on a telescope.

THATS what i was saying. not that "all athism is based around not seeing god on a telescope." that would just be ignorant.

So what you really meant is something more like...
"If you're going to do something do it respectfully, even if I believe it's wrong."

no, where the fuck does the "respectfully" come from? what posts are you reading?

heres what i was saying:

"if you're going to something, be smart about, don't just blurt out stupid one liner crap and sell it off as an inteligent arguement for you viewpoint."

Why would a group who is against public preaching need a person to preach for them? If you're not a <religion> just shut up and let them practice their religion.

South Park is so fucking biased it's not even funny. They even make jokes themselves about how far they have their heads up their own asses. They seem to literally take any issue and find a way to say "everybody's wrong... THIS is the right way." But SP almost always ends up some way to make that central stance lean right anyway, so I guess that's something.

To demonstrate my point of Christian pushiness, I opened an envelope in my mailbox today with a handwritten envelope containing several religious pamphlets and a handwritten letter about how politicians have no answers in these tough economic times, and that I need to turn to God. Apparently, people are getting paid to pray these days?
