3.80 / 5.00 4,200 ViewsAlright, so I'm on Newgrounds, lurking the forums, when my Firefox randomly redirects me to some fake anti-virus scanner page. It then asks me if I want to install its program, I click no and try to exit out, it then tells me that I may have risks if I don't scan, I click cancel and leave. Here is the link I got redirected to. **CLICK AT YOUR OWN RISK**
A toil today is a lesson tomorrow.
1 hour and 22 minutes AVG virus scan, nothing but tracking cookies.
A lot of tracking cookies though.
Are you sure its actualy firefox redirecting you? It may be a firefox look-alike virus trying to trick you into downloading more viruses.

I was roaming around on NG, then I randomly got redirected. The window I had open went away and that window came up. I don't go to iffy sites, I don't click on ads, I don't see how I could have gotten malware.
As long as you did not download it, all is good.
On my laptop I get pop ups like that all the time and they take you into some fake Windows thing, to trick you.

I don't think I downloaded anything, but maybe clicking cancel on the "You're computer may be at risk!" thing could of made me downloaded a trojan, or something of like. I've heard stories of things like that.

It was on a timer so It would pop up randomly, so you couldn't figure out where it came from. Run all the anti virus and anti malware/spyware things yah got.
Your a scientist. Yes, you.

Ok... I didn't click the link you posted, but about 5 minutes after reading this thread, the same thing came up. I was on Campnorth, Newgrounds, and /wg/.

Ah. Well, I just Ctrl, Alt, Deleted out to be safe.
Is your computer running any slower than usual? Or are you getting pop ups?

I've gotten that too on Firefox
I just exit out, start up the browser again, cleared everything.
Then I uninstalled firefox, installed it again.
And then I scanned my computer with AVG Free.
After that, it says no infection found.
So I'm sure it's fine.
lol signatures in a forum
It is trying to play on stupid peoples stupidity by tricking them into downloading fake anti-virus progarams that are in fact, filled with more malicous viruses. It itself is an harmless program, so it slipped past your firewall. What it's trying to get you to upload, however, is not harmless and would definately trigger the firewall unless it got downloaded like that. Try to get rid of it if you can, but it isn't more than a minor nucence otherwise.

It is, Its just a pop-up.
Something similar was happening to me a couple weeks ago. Links from google searches would automatically direct me to a website like that. I ignored it for a while, but eventually my computer started getting slower and I couldn't launch any programs. I had a virus, and ended up having to completely delete the windows partition on my computer, because the virus wouldn't let me system restore. When I got to the final step where you click next to restart your computer, nothing would happen. I suggest you try to system restore immediately, and If you can't, that pretty much indicates that you're screwed, unless you can get rid of it with an anti-virus program. I didn't have any installed at the time :(
Good luck ;)
When that happens, just bombard it with all the anti-virus, ad aware, and whatever other security systems you have. You can't be too careful. I actually have my computer run a ton of security at night. From 1 AM to 5 AM.
I've gotten that also. NEWGROUNDS IS INFECTED. WE HAVE TO FIGHT IT.
Dicks
Guarantee you it's in the 3rd party cookies that ads try to save to your computer. With Firefox you either have to accept all or block all cookies. While With IE you can block just the 3rd party ones (you can block all cookies with FF then make exceptions for websites that require them).
That's right I like guns and ponies. Problem cocksuckers?

well there's your problem. Whenever these types of wares pop up, disconnect from the web immediately and force quit all your applications and restart.
other than that...maybe system restore will get rid of any bugs you might have

No pop ups, and it's not running any slower. I haven't rebooted yet, maybe it's one of those things that start upon reboot.
