I am a huge sucker for song covers and I was wondering if anyone could suggest me some really good ones.

I'm not really looking for some kid in his room doing an acoustic cover of a random song, I'm more interested in bands that make, professional covers, I guess. I seem to be drawn as of late to pretty shit pop songs in which rock bands do covers of such as this one of Toxic, or I Kissed a Girl. I also have liked some Don't you forget about me.

Basically I am looking for any well known song that someone has come along and given a fairly different sound to. If anyone knows any, I'd be greatly appreciative.

I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they would greet me with cries of hate.

Leben Heißt Leben, Geburt Einer Nation and Across The Universe by Laibach (the last is technically by Germania, but it's credited to Laibach, so, w/e).

Eh, Go West by Pet Shop Boys.

I see your celebrating past 50K posts and you still hardly contribute anything to the forums, MOST of the time.

Oh well.

Anyway there are about a million metal and hard rock covers of the song "I want out!" by helloween.

Hammerfall, Gamma Ray, Sonata Arctica, etc, etc, etc.

I know, but from your 2000th post to your 50000th post NOTHING has changed, at all.

You always call me a shit user, but I was runner up for user of the year 2007, eat my shit, faggot.

Yeah, cause people like to suck dicks.

If I had 30+ posts a day, every day for years people would nominate me for such awards as well.

And your posts really are fucking shit, you are no different from any user who only posts one sentence usually without meaning per post.

You spend all your posts whinging. I have made exceptional threads, such as the thread where I pointed out that Fascism is by definition impossible in America and explained it in simple terms. This went over everyone's heads.

I come here for the same reason you do - to unwind and have fun. Although you do it by trying to appear tough on the internet because you're not getting the dick that you want IRL, you hope to get it here.

And I guess I'll start kicking around MetalHell more often. Just for you. especially for you.

Hurray, you impressed 13 year olds.

Seriously, you just practically told me you are conceded and actually care about your posts when no one really cares.

I'm just an overcynical bastard, my whining and my bitching is - more often than not recently - completely valid and true.

This is almost exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I also remembered Happy Together Done by Flobots is great as well.

And ZAAL, I can't say those were exactly what I was looking for.

No, my point was that there is no point in bringing intelligent discussion to this forum or any other forum.

Seriously, you just practically told me you are conceded and actually care about your posts when no one really cares.

I told you that I have made efforts with some posts to actually put something in, when I feel like a discussion. Jesus, you're really thick, aren't you?

Radio 1 does a live lounge thing where bands come in to do live versions of their singles or more often other people's singles. There are three best of albums out now.

song covers generally ruin the origional song and show that the person covering it is either too lazy to write their own material and/or not talented enough to make his own shit.

Word.

Hendrix's Hey Joe and All Along The Watchtower are covers!

Tainted Love by Soft Cell was a cover. Louie Louie by the Kingsmen was a cover. Respect by Aretha Franklin was a cover. Quiet Riot single-handedly jump started the LA metal movement in the 80's with Cum On The Feel The Noise, a cover.

Nowadays, covers aren't as epic. Metallica's Garage Inc. is a must have though.

For a really fun cover... not that I'm endorsing screamo as a justified genre.. this is great.

Dear Tom, I'm sorry for inventing nude dress up dolls.

I can`t agree with this. Many good bands do covers to tribute bands that influenced them. Sometimes it`s just for fun. Plus I also like a bunch of covers better than the original, mostly because of the genre switch. I like rock covers of pop songs or even hip-hop.

All Time Low did a cover of Rihanna`s Umbrella and I love it. Same with Yellowcard`s cover of Everywhere by Michelle Branch.
