So, apparently, scientists have duplicated the experiment that creates fusion in a glass beaker... which means a step towards "cheap & infinite" energy.

Thoughts on the matter? Last time it was shot down because no one could confirm it.

That's great that scientists have actually documented proof of neutron emissions during an LENR. For a long time the scientific community has scoffed at the idea of cold fusion calling it a myth, like wormholes and Eskimos, but the idea that it may one day become a common reality is astounding.

Sad though that the possible greatest breakthrough in modern science is no where to be found on the front page of major news sources or webpages, instead replaced by celebrity gossip and Dancing with the Star's fashion faux pas. An abundant source of limitless, cheap energy? Who cares, did you see what Kate Hudson wore on the red carpet last Tuesday? Ew. Sometimes it's no wonder that we will be the facilitators of our own demise.

I hope the group conducting these experiments finds more funding from a wider base of contributors and shares their findings with the world's scientific community. Any chance of eliminating humanity's dependence on limited fuel supplies is one worth pursuing.

I'm pretty much right there with you Jamoke. Sadly, the only place I could find it on was a few science magazines, fox news (of all places), and digg.

Anyhow, with the way we fund science anymore we'll be lucky to see it get more funding, unless the government decides it would be good for defense. You know, like finally getting off of oil like Obama wants to do.

infinite or renewable? By infinite, you mean you don't even have to replace it

If the oil companies are smart, they'll invest their money in alternative fuels because that's the direction that we have to go in. There's no way around it.

We're talking about the discharge of only a few sub atomic particles here, not a controlled large scale nuclear reaction.

Another step closer to clean, free energy. Science yet again gives me hope for the future.

Hopefully it will be well funded so it may be perfected. I'm not an environmentalist, but I would still like to know what the effects it would cause to the environment.

I feel the same, do you reckon the outcome could be achieved if everyone around the world had sex simultaneously, and put plugs in their assholes?
