I played it on emulator, and personally, even though it's good, I don't understand the hype...

Ha, that game is never, ever, ever going to see the light of day in America again.

Enjoy paying 50$ for old cartridges from the 90's or playing it on an emulator.

It's called a bandwagon. Back in the day, it was the coolest fucking game out there (and in some ways, still is). It's a great game, don't get me wrong. It's just not the absolute greatest game EVAR.

Yeah, nowadays Earthbound is still known as a good game but if you're going to compare it to today's games then your Earthbound doesn't stand much of a chance. I think Earthbound is a great game and if i think it's a must play even if today's games are much better.

This game rules, but to anyone waiting for this game to come out on Virtual Console, prepare to be dissapointed...

No Earthbound on Virtual Console, ever?

I'm sorry guys. I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

EarthBound is one of the most unique, quirky, and flat-out hilarious games ever made, giving us some of gaming's most memorable events, dialogue, music, and characters (especially that awful little douchebag Pokey Minch). Hoooowever, the game just plain hasn't aged well. It's littered with so many frustratingly outdated gameplay components and bad, archaic design choices that it seriously hampers modern enjoyment of the game.

Still, though, EarthBound is a game everyone should at least try, and taken for what it is, it might still justifiably be considered a classic. Personally, I'm starting to become more partial to Mother 3 now that I've recently started it (in English!). In fact, maybe I'll go play it in a few minutes...

Being a parody of Dragon Quest and the like, it's more about something that wasn't done at the time. Granted, the game and the rolling HP thing wasn't for everyone but believe me, I loved playing this game and still like the references it has.

Seriously, what other game allows you to bash a hippie?

emulators are shit....

and the game is awesome.

Along with Chrono Trigger and Super Mario Seven Stars, it's one of the best RPG games ever :)

It's a classic game, decent by today's standards. Back then it was amazing in everything.

I've only played a small amount of the game, but I really enjoyed what I played. I really liked the game's sense of humour, it gave the game a lot of personality. I'm one of the many people who would love to see them release it on the Virtual Console, but I don't expect them to release it any time soon.

They should relese a Mother compilation on the DS, with all three Mother games.

I've already played Earthbound, and have the translation .ROM of Mother 3. Both games are awesome, but I also wanna play Mother One!

A DS compilation, in my mind, would be a fantastic idea.

Nintendo hates following logical ideas. If they did that, they would have already found a way to put Earthbound on the Virtual Console and bring it back to the States, since there's obviously a demand for it.
