There's a new digital plague going around called the Conficker worm. It gets inside a PC and payloads it with malware. It can get your login info, credit card numbers, all that good stuff. It's supposed to "explode" on April 1st, and completely rape all the computers it's gotten inside, and it will spread to something million other websites to get around more computers.
It's gotten into the computers of so many businesses and caused them financial problems, including a hospital. It shut the computers of the French navy offline in January.
I read up on it here, and got a couple facts.
Symantec estimate 3 million infected PCs, F-Secure estimates 9 million.
It infects approximately 1 in sixteen PCs.
The author of the conficker is unknown (obfviously), but expected to be Ukrainian.
My mom is paranoid about this, so I have to disconnect my internet on April 1st. I'm going to be pissed if this is a joke (April fools...).

Conficker's been around since November, but I'm pissed that there are still so many "Sixpack Joe" computer owners who don't even know about it.

The way it's described makes me think Terminator.... not the queer series, but actual good movies.....
Otherwise, it's kinda eerie...

Probably because those who know how to fix it do so. The others just get their PCs fixed by a professional and curse the fact they lost all their photos/porn

Since I still use McAfee and think that all NG mods have super strength, is that a bad thing?

So? I have a laptop running XP Sp.2 with the newest version of Avast! with on-access protection! Plus, all the time it tells me "Virus database has been updated" and pops up a little blue window from my toolbar that lasts about 5 seconds.
I WILL LIVE.

If you get updates and patches from Microsoft, then your A okay. I get updates, but have a Wireless modem, so I am pulling it out. BTW, if you see W32/ConflickerA,B,C or D then you got it. Here`s how it enters and what kind of computers will be affected:
- Shared computers with terrible passwords that contain your name or a reguler object will be affected.
- Computers with USBs or modems will be infected, and so will the USB or modem.
- Computers with no antivirus software or poor antivirus software will be intfected.
How it enters:
- It will install itself into your system invisibly.
- It will use websites to get to you.
