where the fuck did you hear this?
:the fucknig sexy AK-47 as the main gun of the US Army.
the AK-47 is hardly made anymore. The AKM is much more easier to make because of stamped receiver vs the milled . proof that you play too much fucking video games
:We need a gun that works as cool as a German STG44 with Aperature sights.
M16s HAVE APERTURE SIGHTS
and the "M16" isnt used anymore, its the M16-A4
and all these reliability issues arent even that common anymore way to be updated moron
How about we replace all ammunition with flowers and start growing beards and wearing John Lennon type glasses
Yeah and we'll stop the war altogether we'll all live peacefully as hippies
The M16 is still a very good gun. Also, just because the AK47 is 'sexy', why is it the best gun for the job? Is it because you have one in Gold on Modern Warfare?
On that basis, all the soldiers should be carrying MP44s (StG. 44s) because they look sexy.
The AK47 is 62 Years Old. The soldiers will be replacing their M16s with XM8s once the economy gets beck to strength, I'd guess. Or perhaps a G36, as the XM8 is based off the Heckler and Koch G36 series.
I'm on Last.fm!
Also, I used to be YeOldeSierra. Now I'm just Sierra :3
Wow, replacing the 50 old M-16 with the even older AK-47, smart!
If you want Russian stuff why not take a look at the more modern AK-74, AKM or AKSU.

AK-47 is still what the average Russian soldier carries, and they are available both stamped and milled. I believe milling is the way to go, by the way.
Those reliability issues aren't common anymore, eh? Ask someone who's seen combat in the middle east. Sometimes they are jammier than a bowl of jam. I've spoken to some who had their weapon jam at least once in nearly every firefight. Do you realize how dangerous and terrifying that is? If a gun is unreliable the only person it's going to kill is the user.
A millitary weapon exists for one purpose, and that is to kill as many enemy things as possible as reliably and as easily as possible. Hell, many early millitary firearms as few as 80 years ago didn't even have safety features. They had to be cheap, they had to be simple and they had to kill. The M16 is a modern firearm with many interesting features, but is it a practical weapon of war in this context? It's needlessly complex, expensive and has had a history of jamming since it's inception. Outside of contractual obligations(which probably shouldn't have been made in the first place) I will never understand why we would continue using them.
The AK-47 is the world's most popular assault rifle for a number of reasons.
OP if you know so much take all that training you got from COD4 and head for the frontlines...
-no ones home-
I like this flamebait thread because it's a 2-in-1 - angering gun nuts and Obamarama nuts. Good trolling from the OP.
Yeah, or the American Government can just stop sending troops to fight a pointless war.
The AK fucking sucks the accuracy, range and the rapid fire is what makes the AK Suck. MI6 are way better more precision longer range better accuracy barely jams and you can add scopes and gernade launchers.
The M16A4, now standard issue for front-line U.S. Marine Corps and some U.S. Army units, replaces the combination fixed carry handle/rear iron sight with a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, allowing for the rifle to be equipped with a carry handle and/or most military and consumer scopes or sighting systems (usually either an ACOG or M68 CCO scope).[17] Most of the U.S. Marine Corps' M16A4s are equipped with a Knight's Armament Company M5 RAS handguard, allowing vertical grips, lasers, tactical lights, and other accessories to be attached. In U.S. Army Field Manuals, M16A4s fitted with the RAS are sometimes referred to as M16A4 MWS or Modular Weapon System. This model retains the 3-round burst mode of the M16A2.
