Dear Readers,

I am conducting a research to find out how import certain aspects of a game are. I am doing this by slowly creating a simple game for which I will upload (per version) two different versions (jep, a version of a version) for every new concept. The first will have the new concept and the second one won't. I will ask people to play them both (not knowing which one is which) and then to (individually, not influenced by earlier versions) grade them on how much they enjoyed playing them. In the end I'll be capable of seeing how much better a game becomes after having this new concept implemented, by comparing the different ratings they got. The more ratings I have the more accurate my research will be! About once a week I will upload a new version (with 2 different version) for a new subject. The first subject is: Gameplay Versus Art

I hereby invite you to help me with this investigation by playing and rating the different versions of the game!

Kind Regards,

~Sir Realism

Nope,

This is not because I want people to play my game. The game itself actually sucks. I want to investigate what aspects of a game are important by comparing a version of a game with this aspect to one which doesn't have this aspect. So yes I want you to play it, but not because I want you to play this game
(btw, I'm not making any money out of this, no ads no nothing!)

Cheers,

~Sir Realism

The first one is better.

The graphics are better, and the gameplay is slightly better because its easier to see what the person wants when its in the bubble.

Jep, and by looking at how much better the first one is compared to the second one, we can deduce how import 'good' art is for a game! ^^

Version 1.

I found version 2 to be unrewarding... I clicked things and words appeared. Very uninspiring. The second one made me feel like I did a good job because bottles flew through the air when I got it right.

Agreed with the others; the first one seems much better! A few graphics allow for instant recognition of doing well. That's why excessively colourful games like Peggle do extremely well.

I like the idea here, too. It would be nice to see game differences compared, and hopefully you have some good questions in mind.

Doomsday-One, working on stuff better than preloaders. Marginally.

I guess you guys don't really understand. I don't want you to tell me what you think of the games. I want you to discuss this way of investigation or help me on new topics for me to find out about how important they are for a game.
The purpose of these two games is NOT amusement (or money making). The purpose is to find out how much something (in this case art) makes a game better than without that. I will find this out about more things like, for instance, sound/music and explanation vs autodidactic skills. With this investigation I can help every game maker by telling them what to concentrate more on (because it's significantly more important) and what to concentrate less on. I'm trying to make (current) really shitty stream of games become a bit more vivid and valuable!
Anyways, I hope it is more clear now what the purpose is of these two games! ^^

Cheers,

Listen up guys!

I have decided to change something drastically! From now on (if you haven't helped yet) you are only allowed to grade the FIRST game you played (choosing that one at random) in this way the grade won't be influenced by the other version. You are allowed to play the other one, but not to grade it!

Cheer,

This is where your survey comes apart. You do not take the best of everything, and throw it all together and think it would be good. Sort of like how Lebron, Kobe, and Michael Jordan would of never been a successful team. To create a perfect game, you need a good mix of everything included, but at a certain point, the game loses any creativity and just becomes something that tries to become everything while not being good at anything. Sort of like Jak 2

(continuing on your story) so as to find out what this 'good mix' is, I am investigating HOW important you guys think certain aspects are. In this way you can see if you should concentrate more on, for instance, music or more on art. I hope it is more clear after the release of the next version

Dear Readers,

Great news! I have (now already) created the second investigation point for this experiment. I must admit it wasn't that hard to create, but it is a really important subject! Namely: Instructions.
So, have fun reading the article, choose on of the links at random, play that game and rate it and (if you want) play the others too (but don't rate them)!

The Importance of Instructions

Please tell me if you agree with me that this IS an important subject!

Cheers,

~Sir Realism
