From what I've so far seen, it's one of the most thankless, unrewarding tasks anyone on NG can be given. I mean, as Poozy pointed out earlier in this thread, all you have to look forward to is an unending stream of shitty reviews and your inbox being constantly filled with butthurt, recently-banned whiners. It sounds like the internet equivalent of being a prison janitor.

Am I missing something here? If the review mod selection process really does take about 3 years to do, I'm guessing it's not as simple as asking "who wants to spend their free time cleaning up crap?", and then looking at who would and wouldn't. Is there something else to be had by being a review mod (that I don't/wouldn't know about), or do you just really want to help out the site as much as to do it, knowing it'll be more of a chore than anything else.

It's not like wanting to help out is a bad thing (far from it); it just looks like the other mod jobs come with the ability to have some fun while doing them, whereas this one, on face value, doesn't.

None of the mod positions are any fun because we constantly have to deal with idiots who don't understand why they were banned and decide that taking it out on us is a good way to go.

I can only guess at how much shit all of you have to plough through, thanks to things like that, but that's not what I meant. While the modding itself is, so far as I know, a pain to do, there are things mods can do (like those shown above) that are amusing to everyone, participating mods included.
BBS mods get to have occasional fun with the BBS; Audio mods get to listen to some cool (sometimes copyrighted) tracks for free; what do review mods get as a 'perk'?
