I also REALLY hope Same Lake is writing for the game as well (as he did with the other ones). I remember that his face was used for the face of the first Max Payne. It was perfect. Didn't like how they changed it in the second...

I only played a bit of both on the original Xbox. And it was pretty bad ass. I never did finish them. I'm not sure about purchasing the 3rd though because it isn't done by Remedy. So we will see. I'll wait for some gameplay.

Ahhh, definitely. I remember looking at Max Payne 3 articles, deeming it as a rumor. People were thinking they weren't even going to make it. Seriously worried me.

Announcing this news makes me REALLY want just a few screen-shots or something! And looking at the new Max Payne (assuming that WAS Max in the Kotaku article) makes me think that he's one of the Lost and the Damned gang members. I HATE limited details in announcements such as this!

As far as I can remember, both are backwards compatible on the 360 and are definitely worth playing. You can buy both of them used for under $5.

I am really excited about this. I love Max Payne and I was afraid that I would never get to see a sequel!

Awesome, Max Payne is one of my favorite games from that generation, even went to see the movie like a diligent little fanboy. I actually enjoyed it which is saying a lot for a video game adaptation film. As far as the games go the first is my favourite, I think the second one just lacked the scrunched up constipated face of Sam Lake that made him so loveable. Really looking forward to a new one, they could do a lot with the series now with the new technology available, and no I'm not talking about the Wii.

Same here, probably due to the story. In the first one, he goes on a two day killing spree to avenge his wife and daughter. In the second one, he destroys an organization of B-grade assassins. Gameplay went a little smoother, but still wasn't as good as the first. The graphics were way better, but the reimaging of the characters weren't good at all. The new "television shows" were pretty cool, and varied, but none of them can beat the episode of "Lords and Ladies" shown in Max Payne 1. Max Payne 2 was a good game and all, but not as good as one.

Rockstar made Max Payne 1 and 2 also, and they were both very good on the PC.

This is very good news indeed. The first two games were great, though I preferred the first one, and I was hoping they were going to continue the series. I hope they keep the comic book style of narration in there. It was part of the reason of what made the story so great, not to mention the endless metaphors and similes that employed some really creative language to get the story across.

Fucking yes. I loved the film noir story in the series.

Sure it wasn't the best, but it is a much better example of storytelling in shooters.
