ISay Collab 2009-03-21 12:35:02 Reply

April 12 Deadline
ok with that out of the way, I hate having to read over tons of crap over and over again looking for key points of information so, I crushed it all into bullet points.

-The ISay Collab is about "Speaking Your Mind"

what do I mean by that?
As we all know, Newgroundsis a website filled with very opinionated and talented people, therefore why not give the opportunity to these "artist" to finally express there key view points in a Collaboration. Say something culturally relevant, not just rant. I know some of you out there have a very keen perspective of what the world needs to know, so say it.

-15 to 30 secs
-24 fps
-NO TWEENS
-no sprites
-Keep it culturally relevant
-Unlimited Entries (that is if it doesn't go above 10MB)

I won't be bias while selecting which pieces are worth accepting, instead I will look for the most unique and eloquent ideas and points of view. The more diversity the better. Let everyone say what they have to say and each opinion is that of the "artist" alone.

OK, do I need to painfully dumb it down for you?
-Name every single, movie clip, graphic, I said NO TWEEN, so don't even bother with those.
-KEEP EVERYTHING IN ONE FOLDER! I hate dealing with broken links
-You should make all your audio in one mp3 and set it to stream.
-Use megaupload.com to Upload your file and the send me a link (if its worthy, but I'll let you know)
-For a preview of the work you can upload it to spamtheweb.com/

That should about covers it, if you have any more Qs either post it here or send me a PM

I know some of you guys complain about Newgrounds being completely filled of trendy-emo-fat-anime-fan-boys with sheep like mentalities, so join me and lets be the shepherds of these blind def and dumb masses. Lets bring some "cultural thought" into these Newgrounds.

April 12th seems too soon, so instead it will be April 30th
A whole month and some to come up with something to say.
Plus is only 15-30 seconds, that's plenty of time.

Dude, you're REALLY cutting off a lot of artists by refusing tweens. Nice idea, but... well. Good luck. Tell me if you rethink that rule and I'll make a part.

oh man is that the reason? if so, ok Join in, even with tweens.
A friend of mine told that tween is slang for kids between 18-20. I had no idea, I never heard of that word before in my life.
I was talking about the flash "tween" I wanted ppl to work on 15 sec worth on animation frame by frame. Challenging yeah. but seriously its your point of view and its gotta be very rewarding. I guess if people can't do with out, I'll do too.

I don't think he was refering to the age group. Your not going to get a lot of takers if you refuse flash tweens. You can exibit the same, if not more skill with tweens than fbf in some cases. Your making a slightly elitist rule thats going to hurt this collab more than help it.

Man, I hate tweens. Fbf looks so much smoother and it means you actually put some good work into it. Not just put 2 frames in and click a button. Thats my opinion anyway.

That's the way I see it, but since so many ppl are complain about it might as well. I'll let people do what they do. I rather no one use tweens or very specific when they use em.

:Yay for traditional animation

Well if you feel that is culturally relevant to our current society, and world views then yes. You could make a strong case about it.
By "culture relevance" I mean speak about your point of view into what is to you relevant about our culture. Some people may focus on their own subcultures, and that's ok too. These could be goths, emos, vegans, etc. If you feel its relevant within what you define to be your culture, that makes it culturally relevant as well. Now, some people will disagree and some won't, but that's the point.
If your going to focus on a subculture, be sure the mention it.

I think im a bit too immature for this kind of thing. Sorry, but I try to make funny animations and i have no idea how to make something about this. I thought it was like what our opinion was about Newgrounds. Yeah sorry, i guess i jumped in too fast.
