whos a fan of retro gaming? sometimes you just have to take a break from the modern day consoles and have a look back at "the good ol' days"
I myself am a big fan of the sega genesis but it would seem that an equal amount of people like the nintendo Snes. whats with that??? Genesis rules! how can you rival genius games such as the streets of rage series, mega lo mania and golden axe?
Snes had games like Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Super Mario. There were also many great Snes games to rival the Genesis games.
Snes. I played genesis once, and i hated it.
I still have one :D
SNES was the shitness back in the days...
Genesis all the way... that game "altered beasts" was sick. but the og NES owns all!
I remember playing altered beast on the arcade in the movie theater. I loved that game. But I still prefer the SNES. Super mario world, Super metroid, Zelda, Super Mario All Stars, so many great memories. SNES ruled
yea... super mario all stars was the greatest
Didn't the original, 8 bit NES go up against the Sega Genesis? I seem to remember them being around at the same time and being competition.
I knew more people with an NES, and it did seem more popular.. but Genesis had Pirates Gold! Awesome game.
hey heres a russian site for the genesis. great if u live in russia but downloads on 56k are a tad slow. www.sega-rom.narod.ru
you can download a genesis emulator and 1,000+ games off there. (am i allowed to post web adresses?) mebbe its just taste, i think snes games are pants, other than metroid... urban strike was another good one for genesis and what about splatterhouse? and toejam n' earl that was a great one too... sonic and knuckles WOOOH!
I enjoyed the genesis and everything, but SNES owned it in every way possible. Too many good games to name.
Super Metroid = best 2d platformer ever

LSD!
I was a sega kid. I wasted so many hours playing Sonic and Shining Forces.
Gerhalt PUNCH!
you can't beat megaman x for snes that games the shit. same for donkey kong country
My mum sold my snes and never told me.... Oh how I miss it so..... I had Mario all stars on that thing.... And Zelda: a Link to the Past... My freakin' mum....
Sonic > Mario - No contest, no need for dispute
Phantasy Star > Final Fantasy - Obviously, nobody likes rehash
ToeJam & Earl > All
Ristar > Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong is a fucktard
Streets Of Rage
Golden Axe
Shining Force
Need I go on? Nintendo's games are all rehash.

I liked Mario RPG better than any sonic game though.
They both have their good games.
What we should be doing is shunning the newer systems for not surpassing the oldschool gameplay of the older systems. I mean, there's nothing like being able to pull the "blahblahblah when you were still in diapers!" line.
I play my NES games on my Playstation using imbNES v1.3.2

Shake your head, you are an extremely big idiot.
Phantasy Star > Final Fantasy?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Actually, don't shake your head, just kill yourself...and don't bother bringing your opinion into any more video game esque topics, because it's worthless.
Still a world famous superstar.

So you feel threatened by my opinion? Then get one of your own. My opinion is worthless to anybody who has one of their own, not somebody who has to secure themselves with pointless comments like you just did. Your opinion is disgusting but it's your's and I don't argue with it, because I'm not threatened by it.
GENS!!!! IT HAD THE COOLEST GAMES!!!!
THE SONIC SERIES!!!!
TJ&E!!!!
STREETS OF RAGE!!!
man!! the gens, RULES!!
anyone who disagrees is CRAZY!!!!!

No, not threatened. If I was threatened, I'd post something out of fear, not out of laughter. It was just a really foolish statement to say Phantasy Star is better then one of the most popular series of all time, which is still having games made for it.
Still a world famous superstar.
Snes is the greatest of all time. I think they should take the old games from Snes and put them on the new systems.
Genesis is better. Why? Mine's portable, that's why!
well i have to say genesis b/c i liked toe jam and earl and all the other cool game, but snes was cool when donkey kong counrty came out and you cant forget about the o.g starfox..but still i'd have to go with genesis
If you dont stand for something, you'll fall for anything
Snes was always the best! Even though I enjoyed playing the Sonic series on Genesis.
snes- it had metroid 3, super mario world, mario kart, killer instinct, link to the past, chrono trigger, breath of fire, bahamut lagoon, and soooo many more. undoubtably some of the best games ever.
At the time when the two were in their heyday, I was a genesis fan. Genesis came first, it had some great games, and I liked the 6 button controller MUCH better than SNES' 6 button controller with the shoulder buttons. But from where I stand now, they are both about equal, for everything the SNES lacked, there was something that it had over Genesis, and vice versa. No collection is complete without both systems.
And whoever said this, I agree. Phantasy Star OWNED!!! Not only did Genesis have the Phantasy Stars, they had the Shining Forces. Phantasy Star IV was my favorite game, even if it cost more than any other Genesis game there was. Even by today's standards it was expensive at $80! Which didn't matter cause I stole my copy. =D
