It should stay. You can't always be in the chat, and if you have to leave, you might miss something you like. With the BBS, you can always come back and check a thread later.

One thing, when we get an Art Portal, the Art Forum will be deleted.

Meh, I only usually check the Wi/Ht forums anyway.

I doubt the art portal's go under. there will be considerable less activity amongst these, but using image posts and things in the forum as references will continues. i hope the chat goes over well, because it would free up some of the insane/inane amount of filler that tends to bog this place down. the conversations may not get smarter, but they'll take up less recorded space.

Yeah I agree also people were talking about other websites "raiding" newgrounds, and with a new instant chat service don't you think it'll be easier for them to invade and take over. I mean.. a few mods might not be able to take down like a massive crowd of spammers..

It's what I think and what some others would also think about.

The BBS wouldn't be deleted, it has too much history to be trashed so easily. Millions of posts would be lost and it wouldn't be let go so easily.

I can just imagine, April fools.. Tom starts a thread about the closure of the BBS, blocks it off and rofls. In his eyes it would be so funny. For us it would suck ass.

Plus.. Damn I wanna see who wins Bjra's 14 Sec Electro House Comp. I wanna see if I get a place in the top, like I won last time :D

No not really. Heres why;

1. NG Chat will be too crowded and sometimes move too fast for people to keep up. Solution? The NG BBS.

3. The writers portal, again will not be appreciated by people like me. Solution? The NG BBS.

The BBS will never die out, sure it can go incredibly slow, but it will never die out!

If it's true, and Tom himself isn't in a joking mood, then...well, that's pretty much the end of anything connected to NewGrounds that isn't just about the Flash and/or Audio Portal.

Meaning, no one would actually go and start a whole new forum. Practically no one, I guess.

Meh. Kinda saddens me, if people who know a damn around here think that this is the real deal...sorta had a project or two going on here, and although I've been around for almost half a decade, I still feel like a bit of a newbie.

For all the bitching and complaining people do about "the state the BBS is in", I still consider it a comfy little hide-away. A place to relax, and talk about anything that's on my mind, and even have a vaguely meaningful discussion once every blue moon.

Oh well.

I spoke to Tom in london about the evolution of Newgrounds and the plans he has. It's a shame this leaked out, but yeah most of the BBS will be gone. There's gonna be no need for any forums except the Flash and Wi/Ht forums, so the general section will indeed be removed.

Don't worry though, the new parts of the site will be awesome :)

The BBS is an important part of this website. I use it much more than i watch flash and im sure many others do too.

But why is general going to be removed? There isn't aparently any reason for that, because although General isn't NEEDED, it's one of the most visited places on this site.
