Because when NG Chat, the Writers Portal (Lit Portal), and the Art Portal are released with a brand new redesign, the NG BBS will become obsolete and will probably be deleted with only the Where Is/How To Forums standing.
So enjoy the tee-hee fun while you can kiddies!
What I'm trying to say is when we get these new things who here believes the BBS should be deleted or who believes it should stay?

As people said in other NG chat threads, the BBS is for real discussions, while a chatroom is just for superficial conversations and fun.
The BBS is here to stay.

The forums will never die.
It's easier for discussion on a forum than it is on a chat. And you can choose what you want to read.
It has several uses a chat room could not fill.

With the lit portal, writing stories in blogs will probably become obsolete. With the art portal, the art forum will have run its course. As for the chat, part of the BBS dying is probably why it may not even be released.
But nothing lasts forever.

When chat was here people hardly used it.
What's most likely to happen is that people will check it out, then after a while return to the BBS. Or multitask with 2 tabs.

That's bullshit. All of it. When (if) the Chat comes out, it'll only affect General, by MAYBE reducing some traffic for the first couple of days it's out. Ad for Art and Lit Portals, most forum users, like Phobotech, already have lots of drawings they already have to submit, while still remaining loyal to the forums. The new portals will affect General about as much as the Flash and Audio portals do.

I will always stay on the BBS. If the BBS is deleted I will go to a different forum. I have always prefered forums to chatrooms.

The BBS will still be standing and yes we will get more people here, however it'll be like everything else...
forum regulars (most of us) voting regulars portal regulars review regulars etc and so on
It just means the incoming visitors to the site will increase and the amount of money Tom makes will hopefully increase leading to newer contests and more ways for members of NG to get even more involved into art or lit if they can't do flash or audio. Hello newcomers, I don't think the BBS will ever die unless everyone just suddenly left for now reason.
