If it was a joke, why post it on Newgrounds? I cam understand showing off to friends, sure, but we don't care if he has a gas can? It makes me think he did intend to do it if he posted it here, as a sort of 'last message'.

As well as being annoyed by this as a whole for being so over blown and him pleading to have a mental problem, I still find this whole thing completely funny. It's brilliant dark humor.

Based on the conversations i used to have with him on msn, i didnt get the feel that he was that unhappy at school. I did get the impression he was pretty easy to pick on and even at london meet he was akward in how he carried/tried to carry conversation.
My assumption is that those cool kids (probably online ones) that he wanted to prove himself to probably heckled him in that oooh youll never do it. And so he figured to be a badass, he would showboat it. He would talk to me about how concerned he was about leveling up or whatever, which is pretty normal conversation but you could get a feel that he wanted to prove himself or whatever. This was obviously the worst way to do so and in fact probably only got him more redicule in the end.
Overall, I think it was just a lame attempt at trying to show he had the balls to do something that he never intended to do anyway. He didnt punch it up as cryptic notes in his _____ (insert whatever social networking site here), he never came off as a tortored soul or whatever. I think he just became so hungry to be 'cool' that it backfired.

Anywho thats my opinion on it, and i inevitably do feel bad for him. Yea i should be non remorseful and do as the rest of newgrounds and make parody games and photoshops or whatever but oh wellllll

You kind of didn't get my point, which was that the assumption of it being a joke is fucking stupid, and anyone who blindly assumes a potentially real threat like that is a joke is a cunt of the highest order, and not in the good way.

I am a dick about many things, I joke about many things, I treat NG users like shit for many, many things.

This was serious, this was real, it got dealt with by a mixture of users and staff and the fuckwit was caught before he could hurt anyone.

If he had threatened it and found with nothing threatening on his person by school staff / police, then it would be a reasonable assumption that it was a joke.

If he had threatened it and not even gone to school that day, then it would be a reasonable assumption that it was a joke.

He threatened it, went to school, and was caught with potentially lethal weaponry, it is therefore a reasonable assumption that it was NOT a joke.

I would laugh so hard if he has BDSM pics, etc on his computer- as extreme porn and beastiality is illegal in the UK now XD

why not post on newgrounds? theres people that make threads about how their leg fell asleep after they masturbated, or their mom finding their porn, or farting in public, etc. Its almost a knee jerk reaction to make retarded jokes or non-joke threads on NG. People make threads to show off, and people post replies to 'pwn'. You may not care that he has a gas can but im sure theres other 12 yr olds that do care... and he was probably trying to appeal to those people who would care and find him to be the next internet badass.

I don't think that the people assigned to do a computer analysis would be particularly shocked to find porn or weird porn on anyone's computer, especially not if, as computer analysts, they've had any exposure to internet culture.

It's kind of weird seeing this getting so much media coverage now that we're a few days out of the event. I just didn't expect much to be mentioned about it and now we have NG users on the front pages of newspapers. Damn it's just a little surreal.

The coverage has been overly positive from what I've read too with barely any mention of the controversial games here. It's good to see that they're focusing more on the event and what could have happened rather than the type of website that the threat was posted on and a stereotypical description of its users.

i've read about five pages back and there actually seems to be some decent conversation on the topic going on. so, if i could jump in a little late and throw my two cents in...

i don't think the situation was handled inappropriately during the live hours when everything was happening in real time. you have to take the thread seriously and treat it as such. there are two possible misinterpreted thread outcomes. one, you think it's serious when it's a joke and you ruin one person's life. or two, you think it's a joke when it's serious and you indirectly ruin many lives. better safe than sorry.

that being said, all the threads and flashes and what not that surfaced in the aftermath are doing no good. i understand the police and school asked for the original thread to be open. but all the residual attention is just turning the poor guy into a phenomenon. it's now becoming trendy on newgrounds to claim your hatred for the kid before the infamous thread. to claim him as newgrounds biggest idiot and make signatures and flashes mocking someone they've never met. the kid made a mistake. a large and somewhat public mistake, but a mistake. newgrounds should be doing what it can to allow this all to blow over. perhaps there's nothing that can be done. livecorpse is still brought up from time to time, as is that weisse character. but, perhaps disallowing discussion on the sirtom topic would be a start. i realize the irony of that statement, but nothing new is really being said and it's just allowing a bunch of retarf kids to practice their internet hate skills on a target that's not fighting back.

It'll be available in all the major US cities too, I imagine. In like, big newsstand type outlets though.

Well with the chance that Sirtom's threats were legitimate, I would like to congratulate all those who helped prevent what could have been a crisis. Thinking that some innocent person could have been leading a great life suddenly gets killed because of another persons instability makes me feel sick.
