Shows now have a habit of trying to make spin-offs and new programming to try expand their demographic. They can't stand having a kid grow out of a certain cartoon, so they desperately try to retain their viewership by making it more "grown up". It used to be that the networks left certain shows to certain demographics, and let people mature out of the kid programs, as they inevitably will, since more kids will always grow into that demographic and fill the gap. And it worked fine. Now the networks are cluttered with shitty regurgitations of shows in a pitiful scheme to retain viewers. They won't stop even when it means sexualizing former non-sexual characters to keep pace with the first target generation, when they will always move on regardless.
