The Wii and DS are popular with casual gamers and extremely easy to develop for. This means that they are both subject to obscene amounts of shovelware, which although we can see obviously suck, will still probably sell enough to make them a profit as ignorant mothers buy them for their kids. Hence the cycle continues.

Nintendo's plan was to reach out to the casual audience, not the boy who thinks playing Gears 2 will make him a man. The Wii and DS will always have shitty games but once you find a good game you'll be hooked on it for months on end.

I say this will lead to the second "dark ages" of videogames.

Nintendo, as Dragoon said, is trying to appeal to the casual audience and has done that quite well, thus ending up with sales going off the charts. So, apart from all the shovelware brought on by THIRD PARTY companies, I don't seem to see what Nintendo is doing wrong.
Also, you're definitely NOT 18 years old. And I'm pretty sure your job isn't 'video games'.

When you have the best selling console, a lot of companies will produce "quick buck" games for them just to cash in. Yeah there is a lot of crap for the Wii, but thats because it sells the best. It would be worse for the 360 or PS3 if they sold as many. So just don't buy shit games....

I got a wii but I dont really care for it much because most game are just repeats of old ones but with a make over and the rest of games they got are just so ridiculously childish I wouldn't even bother getting them. Im a big fan of FPS because thats really the only type of game that appeals to me but the wii isnt really the console for bullet shooting, blood spirting and nerd cursing FPS games.
But as I said I dont care much for the wii so I dont care if it was the best or the worst console in the world.

The pet games and kid games (with the exception of Nintendogs, which was decent) are made by third-party companies that just want a quick buck. The way I see it, if you never heard of it and haven't read of it and don't recognize the developer, it's most likely shite.
Here's a list of developers that don't produce tripe, keep this in mind when shopping for games for Nintendo consoles:
Nintendo
Sega
SNK Playmore
Capcom
Square Enix
Grasshoper Manufacture
Treasure
Vanillaware
Atlus
When all else fails, blame the casuals!

Its like the AK-47 its cheap and reliable. Also its in mass production so they are in high demand. I personally hate wii's though. I would much rather stick with my Xbox 360 which is like a m16. I have no idea what a ps3 would be though.

Ok i figured out what the ps3 is its... The few the proud The Marines. Unless you wanted it to be a weapon then it would have to be some Really really good japanese gun on the market. Perhaps the G3 no idea though.

I still don't get why people hate Nintendo because they have children's games on their systems. Please explain to me why a system is a bad one because they have some games that are geared toward younger audiences then what you enjoy.
The Playstation had Sesame Street games on it. Does that mean it sucked? And I can't count the number of children PC games I've seen on the computer since I have several younger cousins. Does this mean the PC sucks balls? No, it means that companies make games for children. Anybody who says that they're switching consoles solely for the reason that there's kids games on it is retarded.

Because your grammar and spelling is downright appalling. It's their not there by the way. And how does fixing consoles make your job "videogames"? I write about video games, does that make videogames my job?

Hey, just because I suck at grammar doesn't mean I'm not 18, and yes you could say your job is video games if you review them because you're involved with them so your job would revolve around video games(if you review them that is).

The Wii would probably be better if all the stupid parents didn't buy all the shovelware that keeps getting developed. You have to dig really deep in the shit to find decent games for the Wii.

How are they killing themselves by earning millions and millions of dollars? If anything Sony and Microsoft are doing this by alienating themselves from the lucrative casual audience. Of course, should casuals get sick of Nintendo (not likely), then Nintendo would be in trouble, since they have lost the support of many "hardcore" gamers due to neglect.

I think so...
To me, the flaw with Nintendo is how the manage themself after the console is created. I mean, look at the Wii for a classic example. Everybody who plays it loves Wii-Bowling, it's the best Wii game on the market and it's a shitty free demo game that came with the system.
That's cool, but surely in testing Nintendo had to realize that Wii Bowling was going to be a hit. So why didn't they stop right there, and get to work on a Mario Bowling game to release a few months after the consoles release?
Motion based controls are perfect for both Boxing, Golf, and Baseball... yet here we are 3 and half years later and as far as I know there is still no Mario Baseball and Punch Out is still months away. Why weren't these games planned from the start?
There was a Mario Golf on the original NES... why wasn't this remade, or re-released on the virtual consol with themotion controls shortly after the Wiis release?
In the mean time, what do we have? Almost nothing. There's no new Pikman, Mario Galaxy was just average, and the Zelda game was released on the Gamecube. Nintendo is sitting on a gold mine of a console that does something no other system out can do... and they've yet to do anything with it. They've given us a second animal crossing and more party games then we know what to do with... which have turned out to be disapointing considering that Mario Pary 8 doesn't have any online play regardless of the fact that the Wii ships with a built in wireless modem.
I'm just stumped... it's like they half-ass everything they do. Then, after making the decision to buy one anyways, you can't even get your hands on one because they half-assed the production and forgot to make enough for everybody.
In the end, it's just not worth the hassel or the frustration... I'd just rather not own a Nintendo system then hunt the stores for months, pay three times the selling rate online, and have to wait 4 years for a decent collection of games to own.
