Yes, he did have petrol

I'm kind of glad that they didn't mention Newgrounds actually. The reputation of this site barely survived Jeff Weise. I think that part of the reason the BBC didn't mention this site is because of posts earlier on this thread asking not to. I think the police who leaked this story to the press probably asked the BBC to use their discretion and not mention the name of this website.

Does anyone know what the motive was yet?
Seems odd this guy is a regular on newgrounds and even attended the London meetup.
What did he think would happen by posting about this?

BBC needs to give credit when credit is due. They need to look at how Wade, the mods, and a few members of the community busted their asses out of their spare time to make sure nothing happened.

How do you find these minor storys?

The guy who's now under investigation (topic starter SirTom) had the courtesy of providing us with a link.

its all there in its glory

I've read every post in this thread, quite a good read dare I say. Couldn't be arsed to bother posting here until I saw that news report. Damn, this is quite something. It probably is just a rather stupid cry for attention, but I suppose the risk was too high to just ignore him. So good on you guys. Found a knife as well :/, I wonder where they found that and where Tom was at the moment. If they go through my room at any one point they would also find matches and a few knives, that doesn't mean those items were going to be used in a school massacre. Cheap journalism.

I'm sorry I just don't care that much, if you're not smart enough to summarize it in a sentence equal in length to the one you already posted I really have nothing else to say.

Wow, just wow.

I know it's been said dozens of times already in this thread, but well done to deskheadtottie and Rig, you prevented what could have been a serious situation. I mean, he must have been deadly serious if he was in possession of petrol when arrested; it's hardly the sort of thing you just happen to have on your person.

Again, well done lads, take a bow.

A TL;DR has been posted, if you can't be asked to go find it then that's your problem. Now either shut up and go away, or read the damned TL;DR and make posts that are relevant.

This goes for anyone else as well. I'm going to start banning people for psoting ' wut is happeneing here lulz!' from this point on. It's been summed up at least 4 times to my recollection.

Sirtom93 , NG user, posted threats to burn down his school. The NG forum users (2 user in particular)
alerted the authorities and the youth was arrested.

That is the TL;DR version for the people on NG who seriously cant be bothered to read like a sensible human being.

Come on! We are a community of highly trained users who needs to spot this shit out! We get called members of the Public? PAH!

Also I'm glad they didn't mention newgrounds. That would have given us some bad rep due to the fact people may think we caused him to do it!

'Norfolk Police said officers seized a knife, matches and a canister of what is believed to be a flammable liquid. '

Hmm, sounds pretty serious to me. All those who advised doing nothing are looking very silly right now.

No mention of Newgrounds. :(

It's also now on Ceefax and in the local paper's website EDP24, which say the same thing as the Beeb.

Example: Evening News 24: Norfolk Edition

According to the Press Association, the story was announced 46 minutes ago.

Knowing the way the BBC do these smaller articles, they might very well update themselves when they have more information on how sirtom93 goes on. Reading even that small article honestly makes me even more thankful to guys like Mr. W. Fulp, Rig and deckheadtottie, among all the others that helped, not just the mods. On top of that, I'm thinking about sirtom93 will continue his life now. Maybe I'm too serious or whatever... I like to think we look after each other here, once you get past the macho nature of some of us anyway.

I think it's for the best that NG's name stays out of this one, to be honest. NG doesn't have the best track record for stuff like this, and the last thing any of the admins (or anyone else for that matter) need is another shitstorm over what NG may-or-may-not- have caused.

Just be quietly proud of your fellow NGers, and happy with the fact that this damn forum actually did something properly useful for once.

Or be quietly bitter about the lack of recognition; as long as you're quiet about it. ;P
