Ananas collab!

Hello, one and all. Bobert-Rob here to announce a collab me and Araelyn are starting. The topic of this collab will be an obscure TV show aimed at teaching children french called "téléfrançais". Araelyn used to watch it in her youth and she showed me a clip from it one day. Then I thought "Well, wouldn't it just be dandy to make a collab based on a show so many people haven't seen?". So here we are!

Since you've probably never seen it, check out these youtube clips if you want (Here's 1,deux). If watching these or any of the other clips from the show spark any ideas, you're welcome to join us. Any artistic styles are welcomed as long as it's your own (no sticks or sprites, if you please), but please focus on writing. Humor is a must and it's gotta be good.

When you get your idea, shoot me or Araelyn a pm about your idea. An exact script isn't needed, just a synopsis on what you plan to do. You can make fun of any portion of that show, be it the live action puppetry, the stupid in between cartoons, or even the damn squelettes. I think it'd be funny if everyone tackled a different part of the show, or different scenes from different episodes so we could put together an actual episode with the clips. Just a thought.

One note though: Just because you're interested doesn't mean you're automatically in. When you send me or Araelyn your idea, we're going to discuss the ideas and figure out which ones will work and which ones won't. I want to limit entrees to the better ideas, as I'd like to co-author everyone who joins (effectively limiting your entrees to 8 not counting us). I may decide to include more if we get too many good ideas, but we'll see. So we'll decide who we want and we'll let you all know in this thread. Or through pm. Probably both.

Now for required stats.
FPS == 20
Frame == 550 x 400
Deadline == May 15th 2009

If you use symbols, make sure to label them with your username first. So if I had a symbol of a pineapple, it'd be "Bobert-Rob_Pineapple". The entire animation should be inside a movieclip on the first frame. Alternately, if you want to just download the template flash file I made, you can find that here (Flash 8 Template in a zip file). Just delete the demo animation, animate everything directly inside the movieclip, use the naming scheme and you should be fine. Tried to make it painfully obvious how to do it just to avoid confusion.

Please note: the more original your humor is, the more likely you are to be included. So don't steal jokes. That's all!

Something I forgot to mention: the time length for most of these skits should be about 20 - 60 seconds long. Somewhere in that time frame. Multiple ideas from one person should be fine, so if you got more than one idea for a skit, lay em' on us.

ok another idea i had was for the intro, i noticed that there was an extremely large amount of rainbows, so maybe some sort of gay joke could come out of it (note: may be a bit to "crude")

ooh, another crazy idea i got was when the plane got down i noticed that the plane landed really close to the kids and they were freaked out
so i was thinking that it went like this:
the plane gets so close that it crashes into the kids
one of the kids says "il est mort" (he is dead)
then it repeats itself with the blue screen
and then the door of the plane crashes open and kills the girl
and the guy in the plane goes "je suis un crazy guy" (blue screen thing" and starts shooting everywhere
then the pinapple yells "oh my god"(in french) (then blue screen thing again)

it's horrible. i'm french and i prefered my own school lessons with Nicolas and Juliette in a book, lol. :x

maybe something with the Ananas who will always be eaten by animals... like the Crow in episode 2.

Naw, only us poor Canadians had to learn French with those videos. They were shown in Canada specifically for children in French class. Since French is our second language, French class is pretty much mandatory until grade 10 when you have the option of continuing or just dropping it IN MOST PLACES.
We'd prefer jokes involving the characters, as well as how ridiculous the show is in its entirety.
So, if you come up with an idea, such as that one, then you can pitch it to either Rob or myself in a pm. :]

hey you probably were already thinking this but i think in the menu you should have a button that says "what is Telefrancis?" or "what is Ananas about"? and it should say "click here if you've never heard about Telefrancis, because the collab wont make sense to you if you don't know" when you roll over it or something like that

and the button should be a link to the first episode

so to make a movieclip, you just draw your character, convert to movieclip, double click, and put all the other layers and crap on that movie clip right?

That's one way to do it, yes. If you're unsure about something, you could try downloading and looking at the template file I made up there. It has a movieclip waiting to be used, all you'd have to do is open it and animate inside the movieclip, deleting the demo animation inside it first. It's a Flash 8 file, though, so if you're using an older version, then you can't open it.

Oh, and yes, we're parodying the show, not making new french lessons. Although if you wanted to sneak a french lesson in, then okay, but there's gotta be some humor in there. You could make fun of the way they teach it and kill two birds with one stone that way.
