Couple things
A) Ouch...but I understand your hatred of tracers.
B) I'm still learning and I'm starting to work away from traces <--admitting that I have a problem (11 steps left xD)
C) Nowhere in the rules does it say that I'm not allowed to post traces...at least how I'm interpreting it. This is the only one that gets close is this one (Rule #5)
:"Any art you post must be your own with the exception of images used to start a Photoshop thread, which may come from the public domain."
Of course, the key phrase up for interpretation in this rule is 'art...must be your own'.
I'm interpreting tracing as art, as I did copy the line-art. However, I did not trace colors or use the color pickup tool to start coloring. The shading proves this fact.
Now this is my own opinion, and I personally am not up to starting a flame war, so any future comments with such content as featured above will most likely be ignored.
D) As I said. I'm still new to this stuff. Right now, I'm still getting comfortable with my tablet. So as of today, I'm done using crutches.
E) Fleshlight, you have a keen eye. 'grats. :D

Now onto those who are less caring about traces or just didn't notice it.

Well, as you can see by now, the outline is a trace. Thank you though. I'll be doing a new drawing that doesn't consist of tracing of Samus within at least a week. No, I do not have a drawing of Zero Suit Samus. I personally do not have any desire to, either. Though, who knows. Maybe I'll draw 'er someday. And I had the Prime logo in the background, but I was getting sick of drawing (I usually do art in one sitting) and just didn't feel like putting enough work into it to make it look good.

Thanks, but it's a trace. Hope that doesn't change your opinion too much (but I can see why it would.) If you wanna see some other stuffs, you can check out my DeviantArt . Typically, I only put out one drawing a week. I have inspiration now, so I'll probably start it soon. And it won't be a trace.

Sorry to all if I just betrayed your trust or anything. And I can understand if you'd just ignore this thread from now on. But I will try to gain your trust back. Thank you for reading this.

Think of it this way: you have a coloring book, so you're basically doing the same thing, and when you're finished, do you claim all those pages as your own art? Using things as a reference is fine, but when you straight up trace, it's noticeable.

I do agree with fleshlight, (not with ksmittlez, watch your comments Ksmittlez, It's very hard to notice an overtone of sarcasm when it is only written). The best way to work away from traces is to stop using them. If you are really uncomfartable about your own art you could use a reference picture, but I think the best way to learn is just to take the plunge.

Well, that's exactly what I did right after I got found out. xD Sometimes it takes a little push, and I guess this was it.

Finished the drawing I said I was working on. For my first freehand, it's not that bad. Just to be 1--% truthful, I did look at a picture of Samus to make sure I got the coloring and the general gist of the armor right.
