I was wondering about the technique used in games like Portal Defenders or Alien Hominid to animate characters.
I'm making a plateform game, and I'm not totally satisfied with the result of my character animation. You can see it here. I found it a little bit jerky. It is animated frame by frame, with no tweens. The movement of the character is widely taken up from Portal Defenders.
What technique would you use ? Tweening by hand ? From code ? A better graphist XD ?

This is not a game or something I will publish "as is", it's a try you know, an exercise. And you don't answer my questions anyway :)

Animation actually looks pretty cool to me, but it's clearly got a long way to go before it becomes a game. I don't see anything wrong with the artistry or FBF though, it's not lagging CPU so I'd say stick to the path you're on.

In fact, the platform game itself is almost done. During the dev time I was using ready made sprites from another game (MegamanX), and now I'm searching to design my own sprites to finish it. :)

We could post here some examples of character animation and tutorials, as it seems there's no thread to centralize this kind of questions :)
