Actionscript is being a major DICK FACE and whenever i try to type in the simple action stop(); for the key frame it doesn't let me type anything at all. It says "No action selected"....

THE FUCK?

also once this is resolved can someone give me the code to put in for a button to take you to the next scene?

One: It's only been ten minutes since you posted the topic
Two: Have you tried simple deselecting everything, then selecting a frame? That seems to be the problem

If you're in ActionScript 3, you probably have an object selected. Deslect everything on the stage(CTRL+D), then click on the keyframe and try.

You can deselect by clicking on nothing and then click on the keyframe.

Buttons in AS3 - there are plenty of tutorials on the intertrons, just use Google.

I'm pretty sure you need an event listener or something like that.

AS3 - it's more trouble than it's worth.

Oh, inc(posts);

if you wanna make a button(Action scr 2) first design a button, convert it into a button and then type
on(release){
'your code here
}
if you don't want release just type ( after 'on and you will see your options...
